My home away from home.
Not sure how much nose work I'm going to do yet. Thinking of taking the lip off, but some of the nose work will depend on sponsons. Or is that backwards?? Lol!

Coming around nicely man! You're doing pretty damm good.

Edit. I wanted to get into a rocker mod, but started thinking about sponsons not fitting and also water box mounting issues. So we'll see when I get into it.

well as you may know the topdeck has an overbite on the bottom deck. i got out my marker yesterday and tried a few lines. i think i have it figured out but want to finish the sponsons and mount them before i cut. I will have some finishing glass work/filling to do when i put the sponsons on anyways. I should be able to cut the nose off along the bow-eye indent. i will follow the nose curve of the bottom deck and remove the bond rail until it almost runs straight back on both sides. make it look like a jetfighter, lol.

i didn't read all the rocker thread but i am hoping that the front portion of my sponson will give the nose added lift. i am not sure if that is what more rocker does. watching the xfs video it would appear that the entire skis front end is designed to hydrofoil it to the surface. anytime he under rotated and nosed in he is able to still use the throttle to keep the skis momentum going under water but it doesn't dive the ski very deep, rather it pops the nose back up and he rides out of it with minimal bobbing effect. that was my thinking behind my sponson design on a flatwater superjet. the real question is if i got it right or my worst fear handle like a wheelbarrel.

I had to modify the front end of my first sponson a bit to make it fit a little nicer to the hull. I also spent most of my day replicating it. I took my time and pretty much got what i am hoping is the same shape. Tommorrow i will dial it in and sand as much filler material off as possible. my first sponson is about 3.4 lbs. Yikes. i know i cut off at least 5 lbs of ski but with putting it back together the lbs are just adding up. i hope to have a dry ready to ride weight of 280lbs. i hope it isn't over that. Gil, i cleaned the garage a little bit for you. hope you noticed.

now that guy can hack a ski!!! i think i see the rocker thing now, It is too late for me to do that extent because my sponsons won't fit that. cool picture and hats off to the guy that did that.

well butterfingers mcgee here dropped the sponson and cracked it in half so while the glue was doing its thing My son Colm and I installed his new FMF fatty pipe and silencer. Here is mister serious himself decked out in his pj's. He was puttering around in the snow so i told him to open it up and get on the pipe. after the first WOT drive by i could see the smirk on his face thru his helmet.

Here is my sponson, the second side is almost ready to be put on too. This one isn't bonded yet, just bolted on. I have to go to comp. canada to get some epoxy adhesive to keep it on the hull.
