Today i started to bond the other side of the tray/topdeck/foothold in. It should turn out good like the other side. I also spent some time on my sponson. i did an initial layup on the back side after getting the shape finished. i put a thin layer of bondo so i can sand things a little better and have something more solid to lay my carbon against. i will take a picture after it sets up some more. i am preflexing it to match the curve of the hull a bit better. Doing the first one is easy, getting the other side to match this one is going to be a biotch.

yes pretty much. it is sharp at the front to cut the water and fold it into lift. well thats what i am hoping for. i have no clue how well it will work. i am going out to sand it a bit and take a pic.

The sponson is 5'4" long. I gave it a quick sanding but need to get its finished shape yet.

Today's work involved me doing pretty much all the same processes as the first side. I also did some carbon in the tray to give all the seams a better seal and strength. I added some filler on my sponson and have yet to sand it. Oh its nice to see the ski almost back together.

Because my pole has been cut from stock length it is too short for me to put it on the front. i could move it ahead one inch in its current location without too much trouble. instead i was able to get rid of the turnplate and that moved my upper body forward almost 4". I would have liked to have the pole mount at the front of the ski but i am pretty much just working with what i got. Once my sponsons are attach i think i may cut the front of the bondrail. the topdeck and bottom deck do not match so i could cut and flatend out the nose and loose a little more length. Not sure how it would look. If Steve gets a SN hull he hopes to address this and it may look a little closer to the rickter with its straight lines. th RN is so..... Round. lol.

I am probably not on there sponsored list. I would take one if they gave it to me and give it to my buddy who had the bad luck. I bet he would be very happy with a re-designed 800 ish stock stroke motor. We have seperated decks before and with my hull previously hacked it wasn't too big of a deal to do. I have had time off from work until after new years and i can't sit still at home. It was bound to happen. seeing more pics of what i was trying to do would have helped but i am working off of a superjet hull so i have to skip out on many features. I have been thinking about what i will do for an ignition when my msd brain decides to stop working. i have a few ideas.

This morning i sanded the sponson an then did some composite work on it. wrapping the material all the way around is a challenge so i "vacuum" bagged it. I should probably go back out and finish up the second side of the tray. I also should go take another look at the nose of the ski as i have been asked to do something about it.

Dude, your garage is as trashed as mine. Only problem is I am NOT working on anything in my garage at the moment. lol
BTW, have you bailed on the Break In Oil thread? Did they really scare you away with that PM threatening your life? Don't sweat it, I get those PM's all the time and they are simply more hype and smoking mirrors!!! Can I ship you my hull when you are done? I have a set of X3s laying on the bench to go in but I don't have the balls to cut on my hull. (don't stop after installing the X3s tho, I want the works done like you are doing to yours.) lol
Keep up the good work. I got another dremel for Christmas and I am dying to se how fast I can kill this one and therefore you are my inspiration, wind beneath my wings, you get the drift. LMAO

i was getting the feeling that the break in oil thread was no longer about oil. Also I have not used a dremel on this project yet. i used to have a dewalt cut out tool with a drywall bit that worked well, but it is MIA. It would appear as though my sponson work turned out not too bad. i have some sanding to do if i want it to look a little bit pretty. Tommorrow i should be able to see just how nice i can make it look, not sure how worth it will be. i gotta bond these things on and think they need to be on there really good. You have a set of X3's , that are not installed, ? they install very far back in the tray. the best way to do them is to just jump into it like you know what your doing. lol.

FWI i only work on my own crap.

ha, no molds. i would need to fit this one first and fill it in to the hull. i don't even know if these things are any good or just plain bad. if they suck, i'll send ya a set.
