Damn really. another cylinder for angry people to attack people on

That is a sign (not just of inflation) but that our sport is growing.
It is a good sign.
And should encourage aftermarket manufacturers.
I don't know if that is the case. I just think everyone sees COVID pricing on everything so they figure their crap is now worth a stupid amount. The guys that have skis listed high around here haven't moved all summer, still on craigslist. Benn laughing on two local stock Kawasaki 440's with trailer for $4,500 that are "race skis" and he knows what he has so no low ballers, LOL!!!! GP1300R all stock for $8K. Two 1995 WetJets for $6,500.

Yeah not the case. Covid meant nobody could travel, and familys traveling take a lot of money, so there was lots of extra to go around. If they can't travel, can't go out to eat etc, they spend elsewhere. Used car dealership I work at has had its two best years so far, and we sell exotics. Everyone wanted to go driving, or go to the lake, or go offroading. Look at prices of RV's right now. A $30k porsche in 2019 is a $42k car in 2021.....

Very true I have done really well selling used skis and ATVs for the past few years , in fact probably moving into mostly sales and way fewer repairs next year, if it goes as planned repairing customer skis will become a thing of the past here

If you could have kept this member ,out of your sweet, sweet ,mouth all these years and forums, I wouldn't even know you existed. Must suck. Thosef yo
There are probably many other forums more suited to your Ghey fantasies than this one, maybe check one of those out instead of dragging your fetishes into this thread about cylinders.

When they were dyno testing with the two stroke gp bikes they found a power increase on cast pistons over forged pistons. Forged pistons can handle deto better but the cast made more power on the dyno.
This was straight from Jan Theil and Frits overmars who were responsible for the 54hp 125 rsa Aprilia engine. Im probably going to listen to what he says as he has the runs on the board. There is numerous links to this but here is just one of them

Same place you were asking about porting 1100 Yamaha cylinder and were turned away ? Those motors are completely different than any other. So maybe a rotary valve engine is what you should be copying ? Oh wait it already out there. They don’t have parallel wall transfer ports. Ask ebrig about the “risk vs reward” On a project like this. Not very profitable. Please educate us on the specifics of this cylinder so we can understand it’s performance capabilities. BMEP projected numbers, port area ratio or maybe some actual real world tests. Designs on the computer don’t always prove true in the real world. I do Applaud you for trying but please don’t just use the pv idea as being superior. The coated cylinders myth comes into mind.

Coated cylinders are far from being a myth, they have phenomenal heat transfer capabilities, in the real world that means you can run tighter piston to wall clearances which means less piston deflection in the bores and more HP, anyone who has ever cranked up a reman SBT XLT 800 or 1200 engine knows you can immediately tell something isn't right, they install cast iron liners and have to compensate by running a lot of piston to wall clearance, same holds true for a 550 jet ski engine, the cast iron cylinder runs way more clearance than the newer aluminum reed valve cylinders do, the reed engines also make a lot more HP..

Yup I was asking questions I ask a lot of questions trying to increase my knowledge, i have no respect for people who can not ask questions, anybody who thinks they know it all is a waste of space and just pure hot air. I also have no respect for people who come on a post trying throwing out fancy words trying to sound smart. If you want to know if some one is smart see if they can actually explain it in a way that people who don’t know understand. If you can explain it in a way that normal people can understand you then run the chance of not only teaching but also getting questions back. People who try and confuse you are doing that so you will not ask a question and thus find the limit of their knowledge. The software I am using by the way to develop the cylinder is the same one a lot of two stroke engines are developed on, https://vannik.co.za/EngMod2TDetails.htm

Let's ignore the snobs. Fact is, the OEM is officially dead. There's a huge market of "average guys" on superjets or am hulls with superjet drivelines that have a need that is not met and that's high quality engine components that are no longer made.

Yeah, right now you could take a chance and buy some eBay junk. But what about 5 years from now? Yamaha is no longer making these things. Hulls, cylinders, cranks, cases?....

Hulls will break or be cut up and never finished. Motors will fail and what's left out there will be bought and sold.

It's up to the aftermarket to supply us if the average jet skier wants to keep riding ankle biter waves and chase boat wakes

I have been in the business a long time , the guys like me that get in and stay in ride stock or modified stock machines, yeah I see all these guys spend enormous amounts of money on the best of the best , then they get burnt out, sell everything and get out. I would say the core group of long term riders ride slightly modified machines, probably a good sector of the market to go after if you are in the aftermarket part biz..

A couple of people above have touched on a real benefit/issue which is corrosion. The difference between a 25 or 35 year old freshwater ski and a 2 year old salt ski is incredible. MFGs across the board are not offering long term supplies of parts that will not last 10 years if not meticulously maintained.

I have a whole heap of semi-modern (2004-current) 4 stroke parts that need replacing and the only source is used parts...

Yamaha supports its machines for 10 years after stopping production. At a minimum. I alone have enough parts to carry me through my life. Bought a raider on a trailer for 400 in March. Just bought a venture on trailer for 500 2 days ago. They pop up all the time. The tiny amount of skis in your area, is because of the tiny amount of riders in your area. Plain and simple.

It's going to cost the same. Like the manifolds that are 300 now. More expensive than factory themselves. Does this guy think he has deeper pockets and better money management than them??? Being cheap never works, and almost always ends up costing more, time especially.

Sweet to see minds inquiring about new things. But chasing a power valve on a ski motor was the first inkling your headed the wrong direction.

Whole Lotta crying on this site all the time
