Those that have posted, can u list ur TL settings? I'm interested in what has worked with these setups. I used this last year

30* advance
5500 start retard
8500 max rpm
6* total retard.

Since these engines like to run high rpm's i was considering going a bit hotter with my curve, but am real hesitant to push up to the ragged edge. I thought I remember some guys posting with 34 or 35* advance. I'm hesitant to push past 30*. I run pump gas.

I've changed my settings this year to:

28* advance
6000 start retard
9000 limit
complete retard at max RPM (15* retard at 5500 and 28*@9000)

gonna run AV/pump mix to stave off demons.

I'm moved by DASA power!
I very much concur with the above, from mid to top end it's borderline hair raising! Any ideas on how to get a little more bottom end grunt. Maybe a little less impeller? I am currently running a 13/18 with a setback mag pump. Any ideas anyone. My buddies' 785 hits harder on the low end! I find myself having to ge into tricks way faster than I'm accustomed to trying to stay in the power band and have been destroying myself on inverts.

Hey ya might wanna prop down a little. But i would make sure youre tuned pretty well where your current setup is. Then go down a degree.

Before my PFP. I felt like my prop was starting to spin out the hole. And i was worried i was gonna have to go up. But after adding PFP and full novi 48's it actually made it better cuz it lets the motot spool faster and get on the power band. Thats been my experience.

Pablo, i think you might be wrong here.
I think you running 28 deg static timing till 6000 rpm, where the curves starting to drop till MAX retard (max=15-28deg) ending up with 13 deg at 9000rpm.

Could someon please confirm weather this is right or not.

Thanks

28* advance
6000 start retard

i definatly think pablo wrote it wrong

your motor is not going to love a 28 retard at 9000rpms.

the reason you reduce timing at higher rpms is cause the motor comes on the pipe and the filling of motor is increased and will cause detonation if the timing is to high. reson why you can hold a different timing with different pipes. dry pipes can retard timing later. wet pipes earlier cause they come on the pipe sooner.

my setup:

DASA Lamey 785
Msd total loss
28deg static.
retard begin 4500rpm
rate of retard 15 deg to rpm limit of 8500
so 13deg at 8500 rpm.

Bpipe limited.
boyesen/full spectrum 49s
MJ 135 @ 0.5
PJ 127,5 @ 1
ns 1,8
spring 80

compression 215psi
1,4mm squish.
flattops.
