Mildly related to this, I just saw that Discover is doing student loans now. I haven't looked into them to see how screwed up they are, but you know there is money to be made if a credit card company gets in the market.

The best part---they offer rewards! If your student earns a 3.0+ gpa, then they get rewards with every new student loan opened up. Yay! #sarcasm <<--if you can't tell

Can't wait for the US to catch up with all the small countries in Europe that pay tuition for their students...

Schools are in the business of making money. Gov needs to stop giving loans/grants for kids that are getting worthless degrees. Trade schools are also a better deal...
Sorry, I was being slightly sarcastic. But it does feel like we all work for the "company store" lately.
No degree, plenty of income here.

No degree here either. I tried to go to college but couldn't handle what a huge waste of time and money it was. That and the teacher constantly telling us about "the real world" which in there skewed reality was nothing like the actually real world..

I just want the Southwest Airlines credit card to get airline miles. If you spend 2000 dollars the first two months on the card, you get two round trip airline tickets. My tuition payment next quarter would easily cover that.

I just need to start building credit and get free trips to Arizona

I'm too lazy to read through this but what are your guys recommendations for starting a retirement account fund? What kind would be the best I'm 21 in college FYI.

Roth IRA, but you have to be disciplined and never touch that money once you put it in until retirement. A common mistake younger generations (including mine) are making is cashing out their retirement for a house, or car, or vacation, or whatever. 21 years old, if you put $200/month into a Roth earning 10% would be $1.25 million in 40 years.

Exactly what superJETT says, except do more than what the minimums are! A million dollars isn't going to be enough to live / retire comfortably 40 years from now.

Ya I agree on that million but right now I could do 100 a month then once I finish up school I can go higher. Would 100 be worth it for the next say... 6 years?
