DEception / Truth /Xh20

How many have bought a part/product that is not as ...it was said to be?
Honest mistakes happen, and then hopefully can b worked out, but when..say.. ya buy a b pipe perfect condition ad says. Then when it shows up, you find that all the adj/ screws were broken off. Then seller says"it was perfect when I boxed it up" and denies any wrong ? (This is just an example).
What would most do?
On 25$ part?
200$ ?
4000$ ?

Pick your sellers wisely would be my advise.l look at a number of things when looking to buy a part on the X.

Good example: l just bought a set of used 49 full specs from a trusted seller.l had the opportunity to buy a couple sets from other sellers, but didn't know them.l look at how many posts the seller has, there feedback and l buy a number of different items through a credit card,so that l can stop payment if the part isn't how it was originally presented.

And l can't say it enough, try to deal with the likes of JetManiac and several others on here that have a great tract record.

I am so damn cautious at this point....I have received crap I would never put in a box....from a reputable seller. He credited me but why bother shipping garbage?

I get a feeling that a lot of sellers here think that most of the potential buyers are like rec riders or something.....like some sellers think it will be "good enough for that rider".

Every single part sold should be assumed to be going on a ski that will get beaten worse than a muslim gentlemens wife for removing her burka.

Edited to be more politically correct!

And it is a bad comparison anyway. What is a few stick wacks to the head and ribs compared to what our skis need to be able to endure?

@tstewart quit being PC and flame the bastards if they shanked u on bad or misrepresented parts. The only way to get rid of the deadbeats is to "out" them for being liars. The only way the parts/skis for sale section works is if both sides are honest. Otherwise I might as well shop eBay.

If I get a bad part, I give the seller a chance once I contact them to make things right and if its no response or I get stonewalled then let the flames begin.

I've sold quite a few parts on here. I have never had anything come up that I had not described, I'm not gonna b that one guy that gets blasted, not worth it IMO.

Ask for pictures, etc, get details, pay with Paypal.

Don't assume its condition based on words.

So you go into a retail store. They have a box on the shelf that looks just like the one in the picture I've attached. A sign on the shelf reads "used iphone, display model, as is". You can not open the box. There is nothing that shows the condition on the phone. There aren't even really any details about the phone. Just a box that has a sign that says there is an iphone inside.

Would you buy this box? Would you just assume its the latest model in perfect condition? Probably not. But for some reason, this is how people buy used stuff on forums. It makes no sense.

Combating the problems before they are problems is the first step. Then, if you do decide to buy, and when something shows up not right, you can do something about it.

Not everything can be seen on pictures, but in the instance I bought a used prop that had been setback incorrectly, I had clear details where I had asked about the modifications and was told there were none. Deal with me or deal with Paypal, either way, I'm getting my money back.

I feel I got burned pretty good by a member here. I havent put him on front street yet, but looks like it will happen soon. crappiest part was it was by a guy that is somewhat local and i have seen at rides. Trusted him more because of that reason. Boy was i wrong. When i get to a computer i will post up the whole story and see what you guys think.

Note that, in my situation I've been descret so far and have been in contact with the "original" owner. All deals have there uniqueness. May explain all..later. maybe
But at top of my thoughts now are that.. I'm over the $$$$$ part... It has nothing to do in that directon. This fourm brings the "our" world of free riding/standup together, a good thing. We need to trust each other but can't competely(bad of internet). . I only asked that person to acknowledge a mistake he made ...say he's sorry ..not much to ask...?? Didn't cost him..he sold at top dollar..
What type of people are truly good ,helpfull "freinds" in here?? I wonder...?

The humble ones that just genuinely WANT to be good to you first, putting themselves aside and go out of their way to help you or make things right. Example: Wanderer1, xXx Octane xXx, SuperJETT, Big Kahuna, Matt_E, txsuperjetfreak96, JetManiac, spokkyjjj, all of these guys that you see frequently posting on here and making real genuine effort to just help out in one way or another, tech info or as sellers, are the ones you know you can trust. Don't get me wrong though, I am not saying there are no newcomers or peeps with only a year or two time on here that should be overlooked. They are probably great individualsl and every bit as good as these guys, it is just to say that those whom naturally display these kinds of traits are your best choices to put your trust in. If you ever get that very small feeling in your gut that you just aren't sure about the person for whatever reason, go with your gut and leave well enough alone. My philosophy has always been when buying parts...if I am not sure for whatever reason then pass on it. The parts are out there, another one will turn up eventually in the same shape or better for about the same price...it has to, it already has once, I just saw it lol...that means it is bound to happen again. The gut has never failed me yet :D

In over ten years I have had one part get lost in shipping and it sure wasn't 9g worth. That really stinks. And should have been insured and sent appropriately for that kind if money. Imo

So what is to stop people in those "some countries" from false claims about not receiving it. I would never no way sell to a country that shippers have decided are not trustworthy of insurance.

Few jetski parts hold up very well to begin with. Used parts will almost always be worn and corroded to the point of needing some repair. People who salvage used parts are not wealthy and need to sell everything they can dig up. Used jetski parts are overvalued and seldom economical for long term use. So make sure the seller is willing to take unconditional returns or else he is a crook.

I bought a used airbox from a seller here the other day from a 760. He said it was mint. He sent pictures and it looked mint. It arrived and yamaha couldn't have sent a better part from their factory.

Used doesn't have to mean worn, but you have to be clear what you want and be willing to pay more for it.

I have been lucky a few times and actually received a "like new" part. In the jetski world, it doesnt happen very often. I still occasionally buy a used part but I never pay much and never expect much anymore.
