Someone correct me if I’m wrong but I believe that Nicolas Ruis has been racing a 2008 style SJ for a few years now and although he’s a phenomenal rider he’s still not beating the SXR’s. Just like the light power to weight ratio makes an SJ superb in the surf the weight of an SXR makes it carve like a mofo in the flat. I don’t understand these guys trying to make there SXR a freestyle boat- to each his own I guess.

My first ski, and I really enjoy it. Never rode a SJ, but would like one eventually. My opinion on the SXR: it's a great race ski, it's a great beginner ski, and it's a mediocre freestyle ski, due to the weight and balance of it. The SJ is smaller and more nimble, which makes it a very good surf/freestyle boat.

I can nose stab my stock sxr off a 2 ft wave. good enough in the surf for me. my ski and i put together weigh over 500 lbs. i guess that just means it's all about technique, my young padawan learner :starwars:
^+1....I agree. I am nose stabbing pretty well now off small waves and boat wakes. I even manage to get 1/2 way round on a BR off small boat wakes as well (the dismount really sucks). The learning curve for a standup is much different than a Blaster, and it's taken me a lot of riding to feel pretty comfortable on it in bigger surf. I do love the boat. The new handle pole I put on it makes a difference too.

The SX-Rs have what I like to call - hookup.
Since I don't know what surf is or what it looks like here in Memphis, the SXR is the only ski to have. Maybe if you dump four grand into some new parts, your SuperJet might handle as well.

Silly boys, surf is the equalizer. Sxr's can go just as big, slash as nice, rip as hard, roll as many times, and flip as high as any octane, fx-1,or sj. Now since this is in freestyle and freeride you have to talk flat too. Sxr's in flat freestyle are worthless.
