Well this is what I see simply at first glance without digging yet. If you look at the satellite image, you can see the eye is almost directly in the center (off to the west really, because it's not where all the rotation is). The outer bands are already hitting that almost stationery front over in the Gulf. Since they are spinning slowly, it's not going to have too much effect just yet. Yet it is going to cause it to start that northward jog a bit more (over the thin part of Cuba, less disruption). Still, it's going to probably sit there for a good bit on the north side of Cuba. I think because of the Gulf's front (and the warm water), it's going to cause the storm to tighten up, via shearing it. The longer it takes to cross over Cuba to get to that point, the tighter it will be. The only thing we are lucky about is that that Gulf's front is so stationery; otherwise, we would have another Francis. I just know it's a good chance when it does tighten, that it can spin off to the East pretty hard. If it doesn't tighten, it will go more north. It's just like a carom shot...identical. If it does tighten, you have a good chance of being in tornado alley among other issues.

(Kids follow examples...only adults lead. Probably why it isn't a good idea to try the cutsie he he he's right now. Especially since the storm is headed right for him.)

As it moves away from Cuba it will get organized.

That water is shallow and warm from Cuba to FL. It could stall, then we're in trouble. Francis lasted 36 hours, pulled off my shingles and just poured the water in.

I got paid $22,000 for that storm. So far i have spent about $35,000 and i'm still remodeling what wasnt ever damaged so i can sell it one day. A house project is more addicting than my 5.0L Mustang and the SJ put together. Theres always something.

Right Saki?

It was 3'-4' perfect glass yesterday at Monster Hole. Had the whole place to myself for about 3 hours in the morning. Then some couchers came out to play at about 11:00. They left after about an hour then I had the place to myself and a friend for another couple of hours.

Hopefully there will be waves this coming weekend.

RUN SAKI RUN!!!! (it's headed NNW now)

Do you have means to get your grandmother to the ground floor quickly?

Again, it is the potential for tornadoes in your area that really concerns me at this point (for me too...none of us are safe, :wall:)!

It could sit there north of Cuba and fester moving only 10mph like it is. Windspeeds haven't dropped at all from the friction, and it's getting ready to blow up! The Dr keeps moving that cone over the way I mentioned could happen. It's coming for you Sir! You may find yourself swimming back for the border staying down there! :stups:

dam suzi.. were you abused by a hurricane as a child or something? chill out woman.. its just a storm still.. anythings possible.. but i have my doubts its gonna go from a storm to a cat 4 or cat 5 in the next 24 hours..

It looks to me like it's actually starting to turn a bit east as it came off Cuba. It sure would be nice if all the predicters were wrong and it skirted it's way towards the Bahamas and went real slow to the north/northeast. The path they show it going (throught Tampa area and accross the state) won't give us much of a swell window.

Saki, pour a couple gallons of degreaser in the bildge of that boat and keep the plug in. Your in for a bunch of rain either way. Be safe and have fun.

:Banane37:I got bored again, so I decided to answer your publicly addressed personal question:

:)highhorse:...)

Yes, I’ve been abused by many hurricanes…severely, but it all began much earlier than that if you like Freudian theory as much as I. I was abused as a child when it came to storms. My mother use to make me climb under the bed and hide when I was a mere three to four years old, because we lived in a tornado prone area; my father was often called away to monitor radars. Then I studied meteorology slightly in college, and so my abuse was furthered.

(skipping the legal and accounting cr@p )

Before retiring three years ago, my profession for over a decade required me to track “storms” prone for natural disasters within the Southeast/Gulf Coast States, and be capable of predicting them in advance due to serious personal cash investments. Therefore, I have now been abused (in ways you can’t imagine) by more storms than I care to count.

My first storm back in the 90’s, which took out three counties (an F4 Tornado), required me to coordinate the Storm Center’s Disaster Relief Center (they snagged me with the $$$). The devastation was horrific…like a world war…locals recognized nothing basically…wandering around for months in shock. As a first responder, I was in the field daily in the beginning…it was heartbreaking and frustrating at the same time. 450 men were my direct responsibility while ten County Officials along with FEMA Inspectors were stalking my every move (what a bunch of nuc nucs, but it might explain why I can handle high levels of testosterone with ease, when in the mood:saevil:). I have focused on hurricanes much ever since. I don’t think I have missed being at one that hit this region since that first storm mentioned above (haven’t missed calling one accurately either), and I have always proceeded with matters via private ventures ever since (learned my lesson the first time I guess).

Needless to say, many people have their own storm stories, but I have all of theirs (plus my own) due to my life choices. The things I have seen up close and dealt with would astound most. I have been personally, up close and in my face style, molested by two tornadoes, and I have had reoccurring dreams involving tornadoes ever since (maybe once a year). Still, I love storms because they are intriguing to me (like a moth to light perhaps).

For these reasons, I try to warn people when I see something which has the potential to harm them. Btw, I never thought it would go over a cat 1 prior to a Florida impact, but it amazes me people still are clueless as to the danger from tornadoes and flooding alone. Simply habit and much love on my part probably (not to mention I have another to look out for up here that may have needed to be delicately evacuated). I guess I just like helping people maybe, even when they are trying to tear each other apart for asinine reasons…much experience with it during disaster relief efforts!!! (I’m happy you’re one of the good guys though.) If that’s all a bad thing, then just try to sue me I guess.

Now, if you, Saki:smlove2:, would personally care to know anything else further about me, pm me next time! (this should be good, lol:bananapowerslide:)

PS. I just heard my first thunder and we are getting some gusts finally, cool! I hope the multiple reported tornadoes down south aren’t anywhere near your specific location, or anyone else on here, and that you and yours are doing well. It should be interesting to see what happens next. Some surf would be nice, once it becomes safe. :bigok:

Relax, this storm is a dud.

Windows are wide open and it's a nice cool evening with slight showers in down town Naples.

Sucks that my ski is in pieces right now but I doubt we'll get any decent surf from this one.
