I picked up a billet handlepole mount off ebay. It was pretty grungy but some elbow grease brought it back nicely.
Also installed an aluminum pump shoe.

Piston Nightmare !!!

Got distracted working on the new couch.... What a pain:261:
After two days of soaking, heating and hammering, I decided to get EVIL on it :rocketwhore:
In 30 years of wrenching I've never had to do this to remove a piston !!!!

Put a new cylinder n piston in and she fired right up.
Now I can tow my baby out to the breakers :)

Nice build! I do love those SN's. Can't wait to see how this one turns out.

Thanks!
I started working on the pump. There are two different reduction noxxles in the pics. One is standard, one is from a blaster w/trim. I was going to do a tilt mod but Pancake Pete says I don't need it for the surf. (He hasn't seen what a lousy rider I am :)
Anyway, I'm removing and filling in the siphon as I've got dual one-way drains and a bilge pump.

Heres my Jet Dynamics ride plate being cut up! Just have to make the d-cut...
Anyone know a good way to cut it without a bandsaw?

Spent the last 3 days trying to get the pump/midshaft/motor aligned properly. What a pain in the a$$.
Got it all straight and then...... I broke the steering nozzle

It seems like every piece I haven't replaced has broken!!!
Got busy fixing the steering nozzle. My job as an industrial engineer gives me a lot of scrap stainless to work with. I placed the connecting point close to the body to make it turn quicker. Not bad for an hours work.... Just have to shim it up a bit to keep the cable as straight as possible.

Stredman, hope this helps you out.....
Heres a few more pics of my tank mod. I reused the original filler assembly and glassed over the hole where it was.
The yellow mark on the tank is where the hold down strap used to sit. I had to cut into one of the "bumps" that keep it from moving and then sanded down the part that was left. I should still be able to use the strap even with the filler neck in place.
I drilled pilot holes for larger screws (#10 x 1/2). Since the top of the tank isn't completely flat, I used a heat gun to make it pliable, put silicone on the filler neck seal, and then screwed it into place.
Its not in the pics, but I'll clamp a plain rubber cap over the old fill hose neck on the front side of it.

Its not real flashy, but worked out real nice n saved me money that will be put to better use in the engine or pump.

I did essentially the same tank mod except I cut the fuel line inlet neck off and installed the fuel filler in that spot and then used the original filler hole as my fuel line insert. It took a little modding to get the fuel pickups to sink right, but I only had to cut the tank once and didn't have to fill the other hole. Yours looks real clean. Nice work on the whole build. Long live the square.

Thats a real interesting idea. You got any pics of it?

Finally finished the plate. I measured 3 inches on a compass and scribed it from the center point. Cut out notches with a hand grinder with a cutting disk on it til I was close. Then I put a sanding drum in a drill press and cleaned it up. Just gotta find a pic of the finished product...
