Custom/Hybrid EME Q8/Aerial 8/Micro/Roid discussion thread

Is there any kind of scupper delete/block off/replacement etc. for the micro? Mine looks like its just aching to leak, and where I ride there are huge no wake zones and areas where I sit and float a while. I think the ski will just fill up with the scupper on it since it looks like it seals very poorly, the flap has like a 1/4" gap... Any advice? Thanks

My original sucked, EME sent me a replacement it was ok but still wasnt great. So I tried a few different things.
1) I did a block off plate with versa plug, The versa plug kept sticking closed.IMG_3958.JPG

2) Since that didn't work I Frankenstein one (EME rubber and top plate, Xmetal Bottom). This works great ran it almost all last season. (sorry only pic I have)10463867_10152248142036848_2847914307699159617_n.jpg

I had a leaker on my q8 as well. I would plug mine from the inside when riding surf with a 2" cherne inflatable test ball.

They can be found at your local plumbing supplier. I think I recall seeing someone using an aluminum plate in place of the flapper with a ball check on it.

The water pressure should hold it shut...only way to see if it leaks is by dropping it in water. These have been a nemesis of EME skis.

So as I start assembling this micro, I am becoming more dissatisfied with it. The pump was a nightmare to align, especially with those cheasy aluminum flex pump brackets, anyone have a better way if mounting the rear of the pump? Then I test fit the engine and its not even close to aligning with the motor mounts, I stopped for the night...Anyone have this kind of issue?

Here is a pic of my issue, midshaft is pressed in with 20mm out the back per spec using the midshaft and midshaft housing supplied by EME. Midshaft carrier is from a Waveraider, but all are the same across all later Yamaha's. Using raider motor mounts (too tall by 1/4" so I need to replace them), raider bedplates (again same as a Superjet), and Raider couplers. @tatronation I checked out your thread, unfortunately I can't do the pump mount like yours as there is no hull at the rear pup mounts... Any ideas? Thanks

You need the Yamaha conversion plates for the 4 motor mounts

You are supposed to bolt the plates to the hull...then set your motor mounts and motor in...mark holes and the drill and tap the plates

I saw the Yami pump conversion on Evans micro and I was unimpressed...IMO they need to stick with the kawi pumps or develop a new bottom mold setup for yami
