A large hydroelectric dam on the Columbia River has recently been discovered to have a serious crack in one of the spillway monoliths - 2 inches wide, 65 feet long, causing visible bowing of the dam at the very top.

As response, Grant County PUD, who owns that dam, started lowering the reservoir level immediately to allow inspectors safe access and go from there. I am not sure how far they have lowered it so far, but the maximum drawdown was supposed to be -21 ft. This lead to this discovery, posted on a local fb group:

I have no idea how this happened, of course, but it's an odd find considering that it was in less than 21 ft of water and was white. Current would have been very weak as well.
