What about it being stolen? Ridden, and sunk on purpose? Maybe the thief got worried and sunk it? I can see how the lanyard still being on making it more reasonable it floated off, but First thing to my mind was theft..?

I think a thief would of parted it out instead of purposely sinking it in front of the campground

Who the f insures a stock standup. It sunk 2010 or later, so at that point it was over 10 years old.
And if someone were to do that, setting it on fire would be way more satisfying.

There's people out there I'm sure...growing up we had a jetski, a simple sit down Polaris..my dad was adamant we had it insured...not only for the ski value, but risk of injuring others via the ski...but one season one of the oilers clogged on a carb and fried a cylinder and insurance paid for a brand new engine...for an old standup, I agree with you, but I'm sure there are people out there that do and worry about all the "risks" of not insuring their vehicles

a local guy i know ( infamy on here) called me a couple years ago and asked me if i was the one that bought his 550 from him. the cops called him. they found it in lake havasu, running and spinning in circles. no rider to be found.

More people than you know insure stuff. For the exact reason posted above. I know a few buddies with couches that have had motor replacement/repairs on insurance payouts.

Not everyone is a mechanic out there.

from 2004-2008 I had my Superjet Insured. My Stock SXR Insured, and a Blaster2 Insured.........

So, Yeah, I guess I am one of those....... Oh, use to have a 550 that was insured..........

Two years ago when I built my first X2, I had it insured as well. It was super cheap and id rather be safe than sorry.
