My Rickter is similar. We load it backwards.

That is how we did our SXR's. Put them in the bottom backwards with the SJ's up top forwards.

I just prefer a hard stop of some kind incase of having to slam on the brakes. Keeps the ski from going forward.

Having straps pulling from the opposite direction will work.

I made up some fixed length straps that connect to d hooks in the floor and clip onto the front tow eye on each ski. I added a tow eye to my sj so it matches the Matrix plus its much nicer if I ever have to get towed myself. The front strap angles down and back and the rear strap angles down and forward. The skis are actually tied in more secure now than they ever were with bow stops and I can get both skis in and out in less than 5 minutes.

Idok, i haven't been broke enough to sleep in the back of anything for going on 20 yrs now. Lol Besides, holiday inn express has a pool, hot tub, HBO, wireless internet, showers, continental breakfast...need I go on?

The trailer is officially finished and after several good trips we have everything on board we need for a good weekend. The mileage is exactly as expected at 10MPG and I had to add an electric fan to the rad to help out with stop and go driving. Overall we are happy with the entire thing but I know the mileage will definately cut into how many trips we head south for.

What's the weight of this trailer without the skis in it?

Not a clue, haven't been able to run over a scale with it yet.

Here are a couple pics from Daytona this year. We jammed 3 skis in it overnight so everything was nice and safe and finally got a chance to see how it works with more than just the two skis.

If anyone is looking for a nice enclosed, I have one for sale. 20ft with a V nose, has less than 3K miles on it. Rear & left side ramp doors and a regular door on the right. Has collapsable tables inside, has multiple bullhooks for tying down skis. Brakes, interior lights, etc, etc, etc. If anyone is interested, let me know, it is located in Va. Paid 6K for it. Make an offer.

How do you load and unload the skis everytime, especially if you are alone?

I am wondering the same thing. I ride flatwater, so I am not sure if this would work to well with a boat ramp setup. Anyone have comments or experience?

I use a TBM beach cart, even on the days I ride flatwater. The bunks are the same height as the beach cart and the bunk glides make the ski slide so easy that loading and unloading is a one arm job.

I have actually only had skis on the top rack for Daytona and there were lots of guys around to help. My thinking was that if I was putting skis up there, their rider was going to be around to help.

It would not work well, nor was it designed to carry skis more than a couple times a year.

Me and a buddy could load SJ's up top by ourselves. One person on each side, set nose in trailer, then we would stand up in trailer, life and kinda swing nose up to the second tier. once the nose is up on the bunks, then we just slide the ski's in the rest of the way. Pretty easy.
