CP Watercraft is building mine now and I will keep you posted on how it performs. Reasonable pricing and good communication.

Gil dont pick on me, im to young to be picked on..:crutches:

And when did i say that i have ridden them? Never, but from people Ive talked to it seems like they really like there motors, and xscream has helped me out in the past, so why cant i say get a motor from them?

And if it really matters i rode a jetworks 4mil stroker and that was quite nice as well.

I ain't picken on u, Hell, I am one of your sponsors(stng cable).LOL
I was not saying that u said u had ridden a team scream motor, I was asking if u had out of pure curiosity. I have ridden 335's Team Scream 5 mil and was glad I did for a comparison to my LPW 5 mil.

Hah! yes i owe you for that! Now that i think about it i have ridden your old setup with the LPW motor, i dont remember what it was tho?

I might need some popcorn!:bump:

Couple more shops you might consider
Kommander in AZ
Z force in IL
:wall:

Might not me the main stream idea, but Z-Force is the shiat. Seriously.. Incredibly competitive prices, and top notch, better than average/most work. This guy knows his stuff, and you don't have to pay for the name. PM me for details/contact info!

Jared, you have to ask your self some questions. What do you want out of your motor? What is your budget? Are you willing to build your ski up with the package that the shop you choose recommends. If the third question is not going to be followed, then just flip a coin. You would be happy either way..

as far as the first two questions goes.

Each shop has its specialty, or niche. There are many more out there than you listed.

I have ridden motors built by all of those except Thrust Innovations. But I would not hesitate to do have Brian build me one. Why? Because he focuses only on freestyle.

I could personally go with any of them.

But, For my riding style and my use. I would go with X Scream, LPW (My current setup) or Thrust. Why? their focus is more on Freestyle. I will also go out farther and say LPW's setups or more freeride based. That is Pauls specialty. Look at how many west coast riders run his motors. Does that mean Paul cannot build a good flat water setup? Not at all. I have ridden several of his that ripped your arms off. Now, some are gonna say, why not Jetworks? Art builds one hell of a package, I have ridden several of his motors. They pull strong from Bottom all the way through Top. Hell, one of Crammits had way more power than I could ever use, very impressive. But, I feel builder has their Niche, To me, Art's is more recreation and race setup. If I was racing a SJ still, he would be the top of the list.

As far as others out there not listed.

Steve Webster - Kommander
Keith Head - Head Enterprises
Wammer - Gil, did you ride Jeff Lutkers silver ski........ That ski ran OEM 38's and hit so much harder than my 84mm Big Bore. Wammer has a great port spec for 701 motors.
Riva - Rec Riding to racing only.
ZForce - I know Tim and his work...... For SXR Limited, he would be my first choice.
Hurricane Racing - Bill Haig has been around longer than any one person active on this board or any other for that matter. He is an incredible builder, but only racers would know of him.
TLR - Damn, wish Todd still did ski's!!!!!!!!! He was good enough for Rick Roy, nuff said. My TLR cylinder is sitting in my shop as my backup.
Watcon - I know he can build a hell of a motor. For Racing, I could not have a second thought using Randy.
Judge Motorsports. You want to go really fast on a Blaster or 15F? Nuff Said.
Ultimate Watercraft/TBM - Race spec only. Would not hesitate to call.
ProTec - No experience, but again, they know their stuff. Look at MacCluggage and Tera Laho. They dominated under them.

Now, do you see a pattern?

There are plenty of good builders. But which one is best for you? Who knows, what do you want out of them.

You just explained it all in very good words.Like you stated all engine builders have there fortay. They are all good in my book, its just personal refrence to which one you wanna pick.I do not understand why there is constant bickering on this web site over " no they suck, or this builder is better than all the other one" and so on.

BK, I never got to ride Lutkers SJ.

I must say as far as bang for the buck goes, my LPW 701 was freegin awesome for the money. I got a great deal on my Lamey from Paul as well. The Lamey was frustrating finding the right combo-but now I love it.

I would vote by what oil you like to burn. LOL

Threads like this tend to bring out alot of emotion from people. It's kinda like bragging rights in my opinion. I would say it out loud(but I would get shot), out of everything I have been able to ride thus far-may favorite motor setup is Derek's 6mil 61X jetworks motor. When I chose a engine builder, I had a good relationship w/LPW and trusted LPW so thats who I went with. If I had had the same relationship with all the builders, I would still be runnin my LPW 701 because I would not be able to decide on which builder to go with. I feel the #1 thing u can do is ride as many ski's as u can and then pick the one u like the most and carbon copy it!
