Still tuning my novis 48s (ls1's) but am at 145 pilots, 125 mains, 2.5n/s and 19psi pop. Running pfp dry, total loss, pump gas, oem 155 with a skat 6/12 5mm cutback. Top end pulls hard but not quite happy with bottom end yet so going to bore my exit nozzle from 88mm to 90mm and see if that helps.

So we are running similar set ups. I’m just running 7/11 cut back.

I was curious about that. I was told to run a 50 Main jet. I had a 105, thought I’d try that. Seems okay. I have a little bog. My highs and lows are both at 3/4

you guys should either run the novi recommended 60 jet or tune the fuel pressure. 50 seems too low and your fuel pressure is probably too high. @joecef how are you tuning your low end? You are running fatter jetting than i was on an 1107 with Novi 48s. i ran 145/115 2.5/115 and it was perfect. maybe a tad rich on the highs as i was only out 1/8 turn on my highs and i think it wanted a little less fuel. 110 would have been better. If you go in by 1/2 turn increments on your low speed screw, where do u hit the off-idle lean bog?

I’m just starting the tuning process now. I’m gonna water test today. My carbs were set up for this engine apparently. I’m gonna try it today see where it’s at. If I can’t tune it in I’ll be ordering some new jets

So I got a hold of novi, ran their settings with a 60 main jet. Ski is much better. But she doesn’t pull like a 967. Just feels like a glorified 701. What pump and prop are you guys running? I’m also just running a enhancer at the moment. Gonna jump to total loss or the zeeltronics.

What did novi tell you for jetting?

I had a 105 then went to a 90. Which ended up giving me more throttle response. I drop the 60 In. I have better throttle. But it’s not nearly where it should be.

I have it written down at the cottage. But i think it was 145 pilots 120 mains 2.5 n/s and 1.5 pop off with the 60 in return. And start running at both hi and low at 3/4. I have my lows at half and my hi’s at 3/8 ish

You really need high compression and TL with lay down pipe on these motors if you want them to really shine

I’ll be getting a total loss system next. Was hoping she’d have more power with the enhancer. But very disappointed. Almost feel like my buddies JetManiac 735 has more bottom end

How are you tuning it? Did you find the lean bog off idle then go back out a 1/4-1/2 turn? How are you tuning the high speed?

Tuning low with it sitting on a trailer till she stumbled and then brought it up a hair till it was smooth. Hi side started at 3/4 and dropped. Ran her wide opened pulled the plugs and kept checking till she cleared up and plugs where a nice light brown

Ya I mean everybody tunes different but most commonly I think people are tuning the low until they find the off-idle lean bog in the water then going back out a 1/4-1/2 on low screw. If you are too far out or in on the screw, rejet. Assuming you are shutting down motor immediately after full throttle, then reading plugs your high speed tuning sounds correct.
