kawasaki for ya. sick build though. hope you get it up and running again shortly.

How are the waves this year for you guys?
we haven't had much here this year. 1 day with 5 foot waves and they were all on top of each other. It was a mess.

we would like to get down to jersey and ride with you guys at some point this season.

From what little research I've done, the 900 is supposed to have better port timing for this application than the 1100. I was going to just buy an 1100 engine, but have been swayed towards the 900 with a little porting and head mods.

I don't know who told you that, but the 1100 motor has more power from bottom to top than the 900. If you need some help with set up, PM me, we have my 1100 SXR rolling. I will say this, I think is it great you guys worked a B pipe to work with your set up. It looks really long, tho. What rpms are you running?

One of the coolest builds I have ever seen.

Got the info on 1100 vs 900 from conversation with Harry Klemm. My other concern with going with the 1100 is the size of the exhaust manifold outlet, it's much larger than the 900 and I think it's beyond what I can bore the B-pipe head pipe opening to. The 900 manifold outlet is 52mm and that's seems about the max for a B-pipe.

I'm not sure on the rpm's yet. I'll be putting the engine back together soon with a ported cylinder and bumped compression and I'll be tach'ing it so I can enusre I'm not over rev'ing it. It didn't feel like it was getting high revs but I think this engine may be decieving when it comes to sensing revs without a tach....it felt like it was no where near the revs of the 701, but yet it snapped a rod.

You know, I didn't even think about the manifolds lining up. The 1100 is way bigger for sure. Looking at your pics, it looks like your rod was a clean break. Do you have any pics of the cylinders after the break? I just love the outside the box thinking on the b pipe. What a great idea. Very cool.

It was absolutely a clean break with no signs of heat or damage anywhere...,pretty weird! The lower rod bearings are still shiny and clean, wrist pin bearing was clean and free and the rod wasn't even discolored from heat....it's still a nice copper color. Cylinder was perfect with no score marks and the rings were still free. Unfortunately, the broken rod trashed the bottom of the cylinder sleeve rendering the cylinder useless.

Man, that sucks. That is the only bad thing about the Kawi triples, when you jack up a sleeve, the cylinder is basically toast. Are you 100% sure you didn't get some water in that front cylinder? I have seen cranks get sightly hydrolocked, then snap a rod later. If not, you just might be unlucky. ANYTHING in a motor can give out, just doesn't happen to a crank rod very often.

Good luck with the rebuild.

Update.......Got my new ported cylinder and milled head back from Group K, seals and gaskets are here and I'll be re-assembling the beast very soon......can't wait to get it back on the water!

Looking back at some of the older pictures, would you happen to have any good shots of your pvc tote?
Id like to build two and rape the axles and wheels off my Roleeze.

Thanks

Awesome build. I am completeing a similar conversion on my SXI Pro. I am needing the adapter plate from the exhaust manifold to the head pipe and wondered if you or the machine shop you used could make an additional one? If so, how much to ship to dallas? Appreciate your help.

If you need another 900 cylinder, I got one that is good, but needs a bore.
