F-neXt-1

Thanks Matt....I'll keep that in mind. So far, so good with the new engine. It's through break in and running very well. The Group K porting is very subtle, it definitely feels stronger than stock, but it not night and day diff. Also bumped the compression as part of the Group K mods and it has reduced the fuel consumprion significantly.....stock comp is really low and it was sucking fuel at first. This is an interesting beast!

You still running the B-pipe on this new motor?

Yes, it seems to work really well. I've ridden the ski a fare amount now and it's running great! The funky thing is that I never had to touch the jetting, so the B-pipe must be somewhat close to stock 900 specs. It starts right up, doesn't bog off the line and seems to be plenty rich on wide-open runs.

I agree. The 900 manifold opening is 52mm and that seems about the max you can bore the B-pipe. The 1100 opening is much larger and I would worry about heat as well as a performance bottle neck. Run that Inland Jet pipe!

2 year update.....been running this thing hard for 2 years now and it's doing great! It can be held wide open all day long and it flies. It fires right up every time, idles well and is silky smooth bottom to top.

The only problem I've had is a crack in the Factory Pipe chamber that I had to weld up. Strangly enough, it didn't crack where I mod'd it, but somewhere completely different. I probably have somewhere between 100 and 200 gals through it and it's still doing great. When I built this, I thought it would be a "novelty" and not really a viable ride, but it proved me wrong!

3 year update:

Still going strong and running great (I hesitate to say this, as it usually leads to carnage!). This thing get gets held WFO for LONG periods of time and has been the most reliable and trouble free engine I've ever had. I would still like to try the 1100 someday, but for now the 900 is kickin' a$$!
