What's up guys, I figured I'd start a thread about my first stand-up ski which I decided on a superjet after some research. I picked up my fist sit down jet ski last year and shortly after discovered the sport of surf riding on a stand-up and it was all over with after that. Now I'm putting this together on a budget but trying not to cut corners on anything at the same time, yeah just like everyone else. I fell in love with the RN and waited for one to pop up for sale in my area and not cost an arm and a leg. Now for my price range I knew I'd be jumping into a project and that's exactly what I picked up. I'll have a bunch of questions along the way I'm sure but I promise I am Google literate and will spend some time searching before asking any questions to avoid asking something that's been asked a million times.
So a little about the ski, it's an 01 with an Xscream handle pole, and what the previous owner believes to be an Xscream hood as well but he wasn't sure (I'm hoping someone here will recognize the hood?). Other than that this is a completely bare hull and I'll need some help with different bolt lengths and thread patterns so I can get some stainless steel replacements. This ski was setup with a side exit exhaust coming out the middle of the side which I'll be patching up and running a rear exit exhaust. It's got some questionable holes in it elsewhere that again I'm someone on here can help figure out why. Anyway what's a build/put back together thread without some pictures right?
On the way home.
On some tires until I build a stand
Question: The previous owner removed the exhaust exit pipe and I can't one for sale anywhere, anyone know the offical name for this pipe? Or where I can order one?
Now this is the extra holes I was talking about, shouldn't the intake grate bolt into the two holes on the right? So why is there holes in the middle of the pump tunnel above where the shaft goes? I'm filling and patching those as well, and I'll have to fix up where the intake grate bolts to a little as well.
The footholds seem to be a little too far back for me, but then again I've never had the chance to stand on another ski. Does this seem to be in the right spot? I feel like I'm leaning too far forward when my feet are in and I'm holding on to the handle pole.
And lastly the stupid side exit exhaust hole. To patch this I'm thinking of laying some 3oz cloth over the outside and then layering 1708 on the inside. Does this sound like the best way to patch it? I don't think just filling it with cabosil will be strong enough, but I was also thinking of filling it with chopped up 3oz and epoxy.
