Super Jet First Superjet. Reinforcing, Defoaming, Ported 735

I used it a little on my sxi,
kind of went with it because thats what alot of others used on their reinforcements.

Plus i love the look of an engine compartment laid with carbon

have u used it before roseand, any tips?

Haven't before. Glass is better for reinforcement because it flexes with the hull. It has better strength characteristics for our kind of abuse. Carbon only saves weight if you vacuum bag it. What kind of carbon did you go with?

I talked to the guy at US Composites about what i was using the materials for and he put me in the right direction.
I know its 11oz i forget the name of the weave. i will find it on the invoice.

Also went with there 3 to 1 Resin and hardner

Got back from work out in colorado and jumped back on the project before i have to go back out for a couple more weeks.

All of the parts i ordered came in and look great.
Tom21 sponsons fit so nice to the hull it looks like they are right from yamaha.

image.jpg Started the week by getting the whole engine compartment sanded with 40 grit on a die grinder to give my materials a good surface to bond to. Did the same for the tray area.

I mocked up the BOB holds and trimmed the gunwales for the best fitment i could get. Clamped them in for the pic.

image.jpg image.jpg I installed my drain plug, trim tube, and seald every seam in the tray with 5200.
Not very pretty but hopefully helps keep the new foam nice amd dry.

Also filled all of my bond lines with thickened epoxy in both tray and the engine compartment.

Forgot to mention in a previous post but i also grinded all of the ribs down.

image.jpg image.jpg Laid a layer of carbon on the inside of the gunwales and the engine compartment.

The carbon i went with is a 11oz Twill Weave.
This was my first time laying carbon. It wasnt too bad, the hardest part was keeping the fibers together at the end of each cut piece. Other than that it went down good. just took my time to wet it out good, its harder to tell when its wet out enough because you cant see it like fiberglass.
I wet it out good and squeegeed out any excess resin.

For the engine compartment I was planning on doing two layers of 11oz for each side and 1 layer of 11oz for the bottom.
I might do an extra layer on the bottom
up at the nose.
Any reccomendations?

I still need to do the hand pole area.image.jpg

Ordered my X Scream Adjustable hand pole as well as a ported top end from jet maniac,
He was great to deal with and got back to me very fast.
going with a ported 735cc as he recommended.
Also providing jetting for my oem 44s

Got a few more things ordered while im out in colorado again for work.

Have a B Pipe coming from wamiltons. Also ordered his Gen IV lowered hood and nose piece.

I had a used WDK hood i was going to use but i wanted to get the wam hood.
From what i have heard you cant beat the fit and finish.

Wamilton was great to deal with and also pointed me in the right direction on a few other aspects of the build.
I will definently be going to him more in the future

image.jpg Got 90% of the engine compartment done with carbon, also reinforced the hand pole area and up toward the nose.

Also started getting the tray area back together, got the exhaust tube back in and started refoaminh with the polystyrene.

I was thinking about it,
Ive never ridden a superjet before so i kinda wated to try it for a season and see how i like it, then maybe shorten it ... feel a difference. wont notice the gain if i didnt try it before i guess

Got some more parts coming this week from thrust, Cold fusion billet couplers and dampener, battery tray for the anitgravity batteries. Have my crank and crank seals coming. As well as a cold fusion flywheel cover.

Need to make some phone calls and emails this week for case porting, dont know if i want to takle it at home.

Also spoke to Art Gomez of jetworks to possibly put together a good carb setup for my motor, no details yet but i will post setup when i know what im going with.
I have oem 44s but probably will go with somthing else.
