Well poop! Pulled the engine out and sprayed the whole thing with soapy water, pumped her up to 14psi and cannot find the leak! First leak ended up being at the psi gauge.. Checked torque on all the bolts and they are all still tight. So new fuel lines on the way. Any other ideas where it could be sucking in air?
Not using a primer or on/off switch.

Edit: Leak ended up being one of the fuel filters was sucking air through a hairline crack.

Wife took the kiddo to the ocean for a 3 day weekend and I got the house to myself Friday night - Sunday.

On my way home Picked up a case of Coors and a handful of rockstars, cranked up Pandora and the fun began!

Friday night worked on her till 1:30am put on two layers of glass in the tray about 1hr between each lay. Installed the handle pool, water box and exhaust hose couple odds and ends, also cleaned the carbs and checked pop off. Carbs where off by 3psi on pop off so checked 9 different springs until I found a match! Always this stupid little crap that ends up taking your time..

Saturday
woke up early pounded a rockstar and kale, spinach, chard, blueberry, tomato shake

Installed the pump and after the 4th or 5th time pulling out the pump bolts to shim it I stripped out the helicoil. Luckily or unluckily I have removed bad helicoils before so taking it out wasn't to bad.

Out with the old in the with new

Now with the pump in place and shimmed perfectly I hooked up the steering, water lines, and then found out that I had to remove the pump again to hook up the trim line..

Once that was done I finished glassing the tray. Total of 4 layers of 10oz and two layers of 7.5oz. After the first two layers I put a healthy amount of epoxy resin down before laying more glass to make sure she was 100% waterproof.

Got the engine in and lined up. Putting an engine in the bob is a huge pain in the ass and takes way longer then it should... that is all..

Put in the padding and got it mostly sanded.

After another 6 or so hours I finally had her finished and ready to ride. She ran F@#$@#%$ great! For about 5 minutes and then she had an air leak so I shut her down...

Brought her home for a leak down test and only holds 10psi for about 4 minutes before slowly leaking down.. Couldn't find it while the engine was in the ski so need to pull it back out and chase it down.

Still need graphics and to do something with the bottom, but that can wait till the end of the season. Right now I just want to ride.

@Quinc was too busy working on his ski to make his own post, so he outsourced it to @swapmeet, apparently.

Front crank seal under flywheel passed too?

Got her all foamed and have about 10 more minutes of sanding, then she is ready for glass! Sadly my two part foam is about two years old and only expanded half of what it should have. So used great stuff to bring up a couple low spots and make her level.

Sealed all of the lines in the tray with 5200. I like this more then epoxy because it flexes and doesn't crack and break. After the 5200 dries I pull and push on the tubes to make sure they are solid.

Foam all facing the same direction to help with drainage.

Carried away with the great stuff. 90% of it got sanded off.

Ended up with 2 sheets of pink hd foam, 2.5 pool noodles shoved into the top deck, and some chunks of the white eps hd foam. (which is way easier to sand then the pink stuff)

3/8 trim tube (grey) next to 1/2" steering pvc tube.

Inside. The pvc scupper was not yet glued in this pic. It is flush with the firewall.

Need another one of these if anyone has one they want to sell.

what was your conclusion to why the engine had an air leak in the first place ??

When the pump would leave the water she would rev up. She holds 12psi for 30min in the hot sun, so I think the engine is fine. I put everything back together and this time I added zip ties to the fuel lines and she is now coming back to an idle after letting go of the throttle. So ready to take her back out! =)

I read a post a while back where blue mentioned turning your low speed screw out a quarter turn when it revs up when it's air born

My blaster did this last year Would run fine on trailer but would rev up when it came unhooked when jumping waves...turned the low speed screw or a quarter turn and it has stopped...might be worth trying as to not be chasing a leak that isn't there

Well... So much for making her air tight. End up with a couple gallons in the tray after a ride. Hooked up the air compressor and there are pin holes throughout the entire top deck.. I started down the route of 5200 but every hole I plug i find 3 more.. Most likely going to run the 701 ball scuppers in place of the hull drains now.

Get some of that flex spray or whatever they sell on TV that they patch the bottom of their boat with. It sprays on black so would look clean in side the engine bay and stop water from coming in there. Good luck, glad to see you finished her tho!
