I hate working with black bays, hard to see into imo. I was thinking white too but I'm also worried about stains from oil/gas and what not. I might go with a tan-ish color. Something that isn't as dark but still won't show off the grease/dirt as much.

Looks good!

Yeah white will get dirty, but tan will too, pretty much black is the only thing that won't. I glossed over the splatter pretty thick to help it clean easier

I did my first coat of primer today. First time painting with a gun and I can already tell it's not my thing, I don't enjoy it. Too stressful, too much work, and my space is just too small. I'm gonna finish the priming and sanding in the days to come, but I'll have a pro lay the base/clear.

You can't see in the pics but I have some runs and imperfections that will be sanded and fixed to make it as close to perfect. The area under the pole bracket isn't perfect either since I layered fiberglass on there and got lazy and didn't completely smooth it all out since it will be completely covered anyways (I did it last minute and didn't want to try and bust my knuckles sanding that area perfectly smooth.

See if it's compatable with poly high build. If so, you can do additional layers in poly. Epoxy in any form sands poorly. Probably best to put down the epoxy on the hood first anyway since nothing seems to bond to a stock hood.

I'm by no means a paint expert but if you have runs you are probably laying it too thick. Try reducing your fluid which is the adjustment directly oppositite of the tip, turned clockwise. Be mindful of your overlap too since that makes it heavy. Have to be extra careful on the more vertical surfaces. Not a bad idea to let a pro lay down the base and clear. I might do the same when the time comes for me to paint. The one time I sprayed clear it ran way easier than primer does.

My gun is only a step up from harbor freight and my experience is limited. My main problem is orange peel but I think a lot of that is the limitations of cheaper guns. I'm sure they pros wouldn't use $800 guns if the $40 ones did the job right.
