Super Jet FL "winter" build- superjet RN- shortened, widened, rockered

Whats new?

Not much unfortunately, my spring break starts in 2 days so I'll have the motor in this weekend hopefully. Hull is done, just plugging things in on it here and there.

We are building all the parts as we go after work in the shop, starter, bendix, carb, ebox, etc

Stock motor with pipe for now to get it on the water, motor build will start shortly after.

Updates I forgot to post:

Been busy the last week trying to get it finished with Chris JM working late in the shop to make sure all parts are perfect.

Chris is meticulous when it comes to building parts, from the bendix and starter to the ebox. Ebox came out very clean, and we wired the bilge switch into the ebox.

How much did that bms cart cost you? And are those the original tires or have you replaced them? If so, how much were they and where'd you get them? Looking to get a set of balloon wheels but don't wanna spend $150 a piece. Thanks!

Not my cart, it's one of Chris'. The tires are original with inner tubes placed inside.

Awesome! you guys are right in Orlando?? only about an hour and a half from me on a good day! do you have any smooth, glass-like lakes by you? I actually finally got a GOOD , SOLID 1 hour ride in today, and although chop is "fun" for some, not too fun for a guy who's been riding skis for years, but is only on his second ride ever on a standup.. (was in the bay/gulf today).. I guess like they say, "if you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!" So if I learn to ride well in waves, I'll be that much better off on a lake.

and, so how did it ride? any hiccups/issues?

Yeah we're in Orlando. The lakes stay glassy in the morning usually, chop just depends on weather and wind.

It rides very nice, I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I have the SN ride plate at full length right so it can plane out but still rides a little nose high but not too much at all and it's very smooth. The sponsons help a lot with carving hard in the turns. There is still a learning curve and I'm getting comfortable with it. I've ridden it the last 4 days and we're hitting the surf soon. Honestly don't think I need to change anything right now, maybe cut the ride plate in the future to see how it changes

The ski has been doing awesome, however sometimes porpoising can be an issue on longer rides, so I had a 5" piece welded to another ride plate to see if it would help keep the nose down. I took it out today and it worked like a charm. Buoys were fine, no big issue on sharp turns once you get the feel for how and when the back end wants to break loose. It looks super goofy but I don't care. Now I have a plate for buoys and river runs, and a plate for the surf and freestyle. Also a bigger motor going in this month.
