How important is ankle support? I've never personally had an issue, yet at least. Always wore wrestling shoes and orthotics. But with these holds I don't need to kick into..

Hey Rosie, I was bonding my hull together when you were finishing assembly on your ski. I hauled mine down to Georgia for its maiden voyage on Thursday and flipped it on Saturday. What are waiting for ????? ;)
I'll never be as awesome as you man, sorry!! I'm brand new to am hulls

I have to thank @JetFiend for the foothold advice. Besides sometimes kicking the enclosure, these footholds are amazing. I'm so paranoid about staying in footholds.. So, I was riding around Sunday and my pump decided to blow off my shoe and it was super choppy and it was nowhere to be found.. And I was pissed, because I was planning on trying flips off of boat wakes..
But, I said screw it and was gonna try it anyways. My right foot with wrestling shoe was semi tight, but my left foot with just a sock was super loose.
Needless to say, I never came out of the holds. The wedges and foothold design make you stay. I went to huck it off of a boat wake and got some good height and was starting up at that sky and I stayed in. Awesome holds. From now on I'm pretty much just going to ride in neoprene socks because you don't even have to kick in. Or take some material off of the bottom of my heel blocks and still wear shoes.

I'm glad it worked for you, but that's all @Factory928 's foothold setup advice that I just passed along.

I did get a chance to swap skis with Matt and I know what you mean about the nose high control. Those footholds are awesome as well. I'm sure you'll be tearing it up with some more tray time.

Trust me, get some good supporting boots from jetpilot/slippery or use some shoes that really support the ankle. I usually ride with proper boots but one time i tried to ride with sneakers. The result was 3 weeks of painful walking + painkillers.

And that's flatwater damn.

I use salomon gtx trail running boots and they have great ankle support and don't get heavy. Saved my ankles in the surf many times. Use them at work too and they excel at everything.

Okay so I've got some questions and I need some advice.
I have a 62t/62t motor for my dad's ski(my old square) that I was going to swap cases with mine so I could run the dual 44s I have laying around. But I listed it for sale because I'd rather not mess with my dialed in ski. Plus, my dad thinks he wants to start with a fresh sbt crank and find a 61x cylinder just so everything bolts together easy.
What do you guys think...should I swap cases and carbs this winter? I've ridden dual carb 62t cases 701s and they seem to hit much more aggressively. And honestly I'm aiming for combos with a 701..I know it's possible, especially with a rip.
Otherwise, I could sell the cases and carbs and buy a solas 144.
All I know is that I would have a good platform for future builds.. Holeshot did my cylinders, and in the future I could have him stroke and port my cylinders more.

Thoughts?

I should add that the reason I'm reconsidering spending time tuning is because my riding season is a lot longer than I thought, and I'm not that bad at tuning carbs. It's not that hard, just time consuming. And holeshot has taught me a lot of tricks that helped a lot.

The answer is pretty clear. You already spelled it out in your post asking a question that you already knew the answer to. Just upgrade. Especially if you already have the parts laying around.
