Haha between you and Idok I feel like I lost my "Spot Crew"
Waves and weather permitting, I intend to ride a lot this year. Especially when it warms up.
There was a good sized crew at the spot last weekend with some of the best waves of 2014. Surprised you were not there. Daytona?
I could have ridden mama's ski again, I guess.....but I hate it. After the fog burned off, those guys were in Florida-wave Heaven.

It sux to miss days like that. However, the fact that I've only missed 3 of those days in 14 months shows how rare and precious they are.

Yeah I was in Daytona. That was a killer day with huge clean faces!

the spot crew used to be strong, it is fizzling...

however, put a new pole spring on my ski last week..and going to buttisgarage.com a couple nights this week to give a hand to get Dan back on the water!

I don't think it's fizzling as much as we've become wave snobs.
There was a time when we would ride every chance we had, no matter the conditions.

Most of the same folks that have been riding there for years still come around on good days. Some ride Daytona, I guess because it's better for pictures and video, some got out completely...like AircraftSales.

To be honest, I enjoy riding with just a few other riders.

But now and then it's cool to have a bunch.

Well,
I'm doing my own turf job. The only thing I'm hesitant about is the foothold area. Gotta learn sometime.
Butti is just too busy with work etc....
He's truly an artist with turf, and I wanted it to be awesome for at least a day.
This is in no way a "dig" at him. He told me from the start that he really didn't have time, but I insisted.
More or less, I shoved the job down his throat, shoved my ski into his garage, and hoped for a miraculous outcome.

Anyway, the decision about whether or not to use the stock railcaps has become an easy one. I have already installed them. A lot less cut & fit is good when my meager talents are involved. lol.

X2 Frank will assist me and lend tools, compressor etc... (my compressor can't run an air tool). Warm, sunny days are needed!

Plenty of folks, including Sanoman, Butti and CarterB have given me the "O.K" to ring their phones to death as I encounter problems. lol.
I don't anticipate much trouble, but that's good to know.

He's right. Need both of those to turf.
I think I have done 9 or 10 turf jobs now and I am still as nervous and stressed about it as the first time.
Go slow and know that soon it will be trashed. :)

The trick to installing turf involves beer and patience Dan so I think you'll do just fine. ;)
1/2 of that is covered for sure. The other half will be "on-the-job-training".

I intend to take my time. This way I can drag this out until the water is warm in addition to setting the record for the slowest re-build in the history of re-builds.
The thing that's killing me is that I haven't even fired the motor since I got it back from scream. The FFH will be using the e-box mounting bolts (longer ones) and the dash area needs to be done prior to firing...primer lines etc...

I've turned it over with plugs out. That's all.

As long as it has been sitting, Make sure to put a cap full of 2 stroke oil in each cylinder and turn it over to relube everything.

I'm now into the turf job.
I SUCK!!!
I'm so pissed off right now....at the point of throwing things....
I see why beer is so important for this. Having one now, trying to calm down.

I'm wasting more material than I'm using. I've got more seams than a shark attack victim.
I might just tear it out again and spray in bedliner goop.

This is truly awful.

The rest is gravy after today. If I can avoid it, I'll never do it again.
Just the deck/tray and bondline rails to go.

Not sure what I'll do about the chinpad. Been using the stock one but it's so bastardized and cut up that I hesitate to put the effort into turfing it.

Not quite done.
The bondrails are next.
The FFH is gonna use the existing lower holes for the dashboard and 2 of the e-box holes to bolt in.
Light at the end of the tunnel.

With a little luck and good weather I could finish this weekend............
And finally start the freakin motor!
