Hull is empty.
Pump comes out tomorrow.
Seems to spin smoothly without the mid-shaft assembly & splines are good. Thanks to the boss! I thought the drive shaft was gonna be shot.
I'd leave the pump in there, but I'm gonna pull it for nozzle change-out & dual cooling. And a re-install of a "done-in-a-hurry" pump shoe.

Broken pole bracket as well.
Had to remove a few decals to glass a spot or two....I just kept going (except for the hood). The pig will have a new look as well. Ugly-black-pig.
Getting the glue-residue off is no easy task. Especially where the stock graphics were. Open to suggestions. Acetone won't touch it. Carb cleaner or brake cleaner won't touch it. But, cosmetics have never been a strong point for the pig.

It will live again!
Some pics...

Gotta love those trailer fenders! (cut from a 55gal drum.lol)

The Pig is looking good Dan! Striped down naked.lt will be better and badder when it morph's into its new life!
Did you end up getting the glue off?

I don't know if I'm doing more harm than good...trying to get this glue off. I've gashed the clear-coat with the razor-scraper a million times. The only real fix at this point is to get it all off, sand and paint.
I've never been much for cosmetics...but, just about every piece of hardware has been removed. What's left would take very little time to remove and prep for paint. If there was ever an opportunity to paint, this would be it.
Unlike some of my good riding-buds, I don't enjoy ripping it apart every few weeks. lol.
I don't need the extra expense either! But, Idok gave me a hint about a local place that has done paint work pretty reasonably priced.
If paint happens, it won't be until after Datona. I'm picking up some tubbies there. No sense painting until they are installed.

The project has grown, as usual, to more than anticipated. Maybe if I ripped it apart more often.... lol.
10 years on a stock cylinder can't be bad. Compression is still good, but she's getting opened up a tad. New pistons, porting etc...
Hope to be riding by March.
Ski-less in Daytona this year! I'll enjoy watching/drinking!

Finally tore the motor down this morning. Found nothing tragic, but it was due, at least for rings. It's getting a lot more, but I'll still be the last super jet rider! lol.
Old dudes remember when the sj was the s**t! Now it's hard to find one at Daytona. lol.

Such lousy weather lately. Hard to get motivated. Today is the last reasonably warm day for a while. Got the cases split and crank in a bag. Everything looks good; considering the abuse.
Picking up a lot of parts in Daytona.
Nice to do it without a deadline, but I am truly slow.
I blame it on the holidays! A lot going on in January as well.

Painter secured.
Nothing fancy. A local with the equipment. But it should come out better than rattle cans.

Otherwise, not a lot of progress. The weather has been bad. Cold, wet and not Florida at all.
Got a bunch of parts while in Daytona. All in a bin waiting for me to do something.

What color are you going with?
Black, black and more black.
Not so creative.

The only thing that will break it up a bit will be the turf.....an exciting gray.

I can't put a lot of effort into cosmetics. The sun and salt will take a toll on whatever I do. The ski is stored outside.

Pics when It's done will be shortlived. lol.
But the motor will rock.

Sanding, sanding and more sanding.....ACK!

Color might be other than black.
Might be something crazy.. I don't know. The new paint plan involves a shop that will do a great deal if you accept whatever leftovers they have laying around. That's the route for me!

Currently a month behind schedule.
Missed some great waves last week.

Gonna cut off the back brakes.

The vertical lip/bond-line around the back of the ski.

As concerned as we freestyle riders are with low-end hit, it seems like the right thing to do.

Not based on science. Just common sense.

The back brakes are gone.
Tubbies installed. Carter B made 'em and Carter B installed 'em.
I can make glass strong.....but I don't have the talent to make it pretty.

I asked Carter to do it. His price was very reasonable and his work was superb.

I would have made a mess of it for sure.

Pics soon.
