1st ride with the new steering Wednesday morning. I can tell that I'm gonna like it. Thanks Chris and CF!

I've max'd out my steering cable though. I guess the shortened pole along with my previous set-up was about the limit. The CF steering shortens me up another 1.5" or so. I like it, but I'm out of adjustment on the cable. (both ways about a 1/4" b4 hitting the steering stop.) The last little bit puts some tension on the cable. Not a big deal. For now I'm gonna glue a piece of turf on each side of the stop to protect the cable.
Maybe I can get some advise either here or in Daytona on what to do about it.
I am not in the mood to replace a steering cable!

It's also battery time! 4 year old AGM (Advance Auto) is finally giving out. I'll ride Wednesday with it, but another will be in there for Daytona. (not from advance this time....I'm getting one from X2 Frank's battery supplier where he works)

Nulear6 (Chuck) gave me a handy tip that got me some adjustment back. Drew the nugget to the inner max. Half of the issue was the throttle cable hitting the chinpad. (currently hacking away at that.)
Might end up riding "Lucas style" by the time I'm done...(chinpad free..lol)

Just strap a chicken over the pivot bolt for some cushion and you are good to go, lol.

Finally broke a gp800 motor mount...They are not indestructable. I have already rec'd a couple from Jetmaniac. He rocks for parts!
I'm in no rush. no waves. My elbow is still not right. Gonna fish on the weekends for a while. Not burned out, but gotta do something else for a while.

Just got the motor back in.... Had a bad ground cable and a loose positive cable (loose on the starter).
I made the last set of cables, and made them well, but not well enough, I guess! Lasted a year or two.
Glad it was that simple. Glad it didn't crap out in the surf.

Trying a different pipe tuning set up. Had the head pipe off so I figured I'd work & lube the screws. A friend suggested a completely different pipe tuning, so I'm giving it a try.

Fiddled with a few different things on Sat. The pipe tuning made no real difference. Tried a few things with the cooling lines. One set up gave better performance, but the motor was way too hot. Broke a clamp on the b-pipe coupler..(had a spare)...

All in all, it's going back to the way it was last week (except for the pipe screws).
It performed the same whether I had the bottom open 3/4 or if I had the middle open 3/4. The middle is not the biotch that the bottom is to adjust, so the bottom is staying closed.

Finally got to do the "v-wake" thing on Sunday! Had a friggin' blast!
But...I broke some stuff. Imagine that. A few unsuccessful BF attempts resulted in some "maybe not" hood hooks and some glasswork yet to be done.

Funny, I arrived around noon on Saturday, took a short burn, and my pump shoe was wasted. Luckily Fred (Augustaf) had a freshy and brought it Sunday morning. (thanks Fred!)

Installed it in the A.M. and proceeded to try the V-wake.
Being a surf rider, with a 701, no trim, I was enthralled with the air that you can get.
Grabbed my helmet and decided to flip it.

2 "not quites" and one rag-doll later.....

A little hood damage.

I had more fun than I've had in quite a while!

nope,
was at Blues place, he had a big birthday Lake/riding/ V-wake/carnage party at his place was a lot fun. was good to see you Dan

Likewise Lucas!
Found a bit more minor carnage....broken nosepiece, de-turfed chinpad.....all easy fixes.
This will be the 3rd or 4th glassing of the hood.....if somebody has one, might make a deal.

Looking forward to pics/vid of the day!

Super glued the nosepiece & re-glued the chinpad turf...ugly as hell, but I guess that's my style.

Waiting for glass to kick on the hood. Slow hardener...bad mistake. I'm making an awful mess. Worst glasser in the history of fiberglass! lol.

Thinking about taking some vacation time while you're here.
I gotta burn some vac time...and it would be cool to "not have work get in the way".
LMK dates.
