Think AC use to make a Pole. Gonna be hard tom find. You might could bolt in an XMetal Comp Pole. Just need to check the overall length. 650 poles are short compared to others. You could probably make a Cast Rickter Pole work. Just need to check with bracket spacing to see if it will fit.
I would not spend the money on a billet pole. Should be able to find a cast RRP Pole for about 500.00

yea, I'm looking for something that would probably bolt right in. Before I go that route, I may want to get a few more hours of ride time in to see if its even necessary. I wont be attempting any tricks any time soon. coming over from an HX, I just want to get more comfortable with the ski first....I just don't want to snap the pole off while falling.
funny, I have the limiting rope, but when its not connected and I go to put the pin in to hold the pole up, it does make a god awful creak right before I can slide the pin in. almost sounds like this thing may crack soon enough.

You're probably not going to break the pole, and if you do, just get another stock one. If you get to the point that you are riding crazy enough to break the pole (excluding over extending it on nose stabs), you should likely be shopping a different ski, not just a pole.

I agree, there was this guy on here/PWCT that made these aluminum poles for like $280, then $295, now about $300+, but ive seen a few ppl use it in their build and I think I recall them having to drill holes and then reupholster the chin pad cover that he includes for extra $. Not too bad I guess but I've never replaced a pole/cables/throttle assembly on one of these. Shouldn't be too bad though. I've swapped out engines, rebuilt carbs, drivelines, pumps, wear rings etc... but have never opened cases and rebuilt motors. (I've taken apart a blown up one that was salted, my arms looked like popeye by the time I was done) I think it shouldn't be too difficult, its just that mines not broken (yet).

I stay pretty close to shore anyway, BUT, I don't ride in flat glass lakes... its always in the gulf/pass/bay here on the west coast of FL. not too many lakes here until you get a few hours inland. Everyone whose poles break that I've seen, are usually A. doing tricks, or B. riding in gulf/surf waters. You guys have years of experience with this stuff, if not decades, so I think ill be ok for now with the stock pole.

Save your money so when ypu finally do get crazy enough to break it, you can just sell the whole deal and get a superjet or AM hull. I enjoyed my 650sx and other skis, but i wish i would have dropped the money on a superjet sooner. Its not jist that it handles better and thepower is better. This handle pole conversation becomes a moot point when you own a hull with not less than 10 reallygood options for aftermarket poles.

@Vumad yes sounds like that's the safe bet. Funny, I thought about picking up a leftover 2015 SJ out from the Tampa area, it was going to run me around 8k, but then I was waiting for the price point release for the new SXR, and it turns out that it should be right around 10k for a 4tec 1500cc sxr. but then, I thought, that thing will be strictly a buoy chaser and is about 500lbs... not exactly nimble.. so... I think I will just get very comfortable on this 650 for a while, then decide what to do as far as upgrade

New is nice, but there was a pre 08 sj in my area not long ago for $4500with a rrp pole, lower hood, b-pipe, etc. Keep an eye out for a deal like that one. Expect to pay a little more than that or wait a long timr.that was a good deal.
