winning isnt everything :Banane25:.theres no doubt the looks of the conditions were fair, it looked like the damn bay out there so what good is it when guys train all year on flat lakes then have to compete in that just calling it how i see it, either way sports with judges can sometimes suck because it has a good amount of b.s involved either way congrats on the championship

Then why bash a hull you've never ridden?? And don't say you've never had the chance to because we were at body beach with 2 skis that we were demoing all day long, and you were just a few yards from us.
I really take offense when people say the BOB is t a good hull for anything and the only reason why people buy it is because it's inexpensive. BOB won the West Coast National Stop, AM Freeride at the IFWA Surf Slam, and even Amateur Freestyle at the World Finals. What more do you guys want from us??

DK me and Lucas both wanted to demo the bob hull... After we got done letting guys demo our freaks you loaded up and left before we got the chance... What your doing is great, 4k for what your selling and what people can get into is unreal.. No one around us has one.. I was going to buy one a long time ago until I rode Mcdogs.. Then another buddy that's a dealer said he can't keep one together...

Maybe a Gen 3 will come down our way soon, who knows I may build one for fun... I enjoy building skis and have a new Dasa coming...

it rides nice, same bottom as the superfreak from my understanding

Your understanding is incorrect. Kong is similiar to the superfreak before the badass hull was designed. Superfreak is totally different design now. Kong has also made many changes since first design so they are now completely different animals.

Shane's (mcdog) ski was one of the first ones produced and was repaired by Shane and sold to a fellow member.

There's a reason why we don't offer the Gen1 anymore. The hull McDog got was one of our first. Unfortunately not everyone can make a perfect hull their first time, which is why we replaced it for him. The Gen2 is a totally different game, it rides better, it's much stronger, and the finish is much better. Try not to base our reputation and build skills on our first design. I'm pretty sure the first couple hulls that Tem built weren't perfect, but his hulls are obviously pretty good now... Because he's got experience. After making 100 hulls, we've happened to learn a few things since the Gen1 hulls.

What it really comes down to is these hulls (A/M) all suck., but I can't enjoy a oem SJ now so it's a/m for me.. Every one has its own problems, fit , finish, heavy, what ever.. We all like one or the other, some might be better, who cares anymore...

Any one looking at a A/M hull should ride it at least 2-3 tanks before buying one... Even after you buy it, 6 months later another hull comes out that's the new thing..

My home away from home.
I'm just so stoked on how many hulls there are to chose from now. Holy crap we have come a long ways in the past 3 yrs. Big thanks to all the builders, innovators and testers out there that are hooking all of us up with new hull designs. And like said above, it's still evolving!

I was not trying to attack you personally josh, I was inferring that you seemed pretty upset that a budget BOB hull beat out an expensive Superfreak hull, a hull that you personally own and review as the best hull out there. I was not taking shots at your income nor your profession, I could careless if your a millionaire or living in a cardboard box. Give the BOB buys some credit, you might not think the 2 min routine and conditions were optimal but everyone competed in the same conditions and DK won!

I sent DK a pm... I was wrong to make that post.. He won fair and square and deserves the title

Everyone knows me and Lucas ride a lot together so I knew what he had in his hat... Just a long way for us east coasters to travel and see those crap conditions..

As for the Bob I sent DK a pm about a Gen 3, I have a new Dasa ordered so will see

Just to set the record straight I did not repair that BOB before I sold it. The buyer chose to repair it himself.

I will also say that the second BOB hull that I had and sold to 5bulldogs was night and day different from the gen 1 I had. I only sold it because it was 20 pounds heavier and more expensive than the presuperfreak carbon hull I replaced it with.

Josh is shooting straight, I happen to feel the exact same as he does. I think if he rode a carbon ROK he would enjoy it a little more than a glass one although his description of the ride was pretty accurate.

Lil DK, I know your pasionate about the sport and particularly the BOB Hull. I wish you all would have made it to Nationals the last time it was in Nashville or could get a GEN2 or 3 hull to Daytona for some test rides. Honestly I feel the exact same as Josh on the BOB because all I have seen is the GEN1 and I was FAR FROM IMPRESSED, I have also seen some of Tem's first hulls that were busted all to he!!.
I for one am impressed with the fact that you all are moving forward and making changes to the BOB. The changes that are visible are impressive (the hood, the adjustable holds) but time will tell.

I thought the Josh, Lucous and Maniac were just hype building groupies for the SF BadAzz until I had the chance to ride one and until the owners of them put some brutal time on them. Now I see they are actually supporting a great riding, strong hull. I HATE the looks of them personally but I have had one sitting in my shop for a week now (Keiths AKA MFR's) and had a chance to check it out closely. Tem has made some HUGE changes to the ride design of these hulls that are not visible until you really look at them. He obviously has a grasp of what works in the water and has come a long way in making them hold up as well.

They are ugly and the finish sucks but they are strong and designed well for handling.

Just my opinion.
I do not own one though.

it is truely amazing to see how many options for A/M hulls are out there right now it seems only a couple of years ago we really had very little choice

i just want to start by saying that for me $$ is not really a consideration for me when im looking at hulls, if there is a hull i want i would get it....

also im not a hardcore rider, i dont flip or roll, i just enjoy riding

i previoulsy had the WDK REV, i actually liked this hull (no one else did in my riding group) i ride mainly flatwater and it did take some time to get used to but i found i got alot more air and rotation on this hull than i did on a stock RN, but i found i hated it in surf or any chop, jumping waves meant a good ball slap on landings as it tended to go nose high

next i got a 08 WCF, similar to riding a stock RN 08, personally didnt like it...

my current hull is a ROK, and i feel lucky to be one of the few that have them, cost was not an issue for me, in fact i paid over retail price to buy it from someone who had it already just so i knew i got it. i like the fit and finish, it took a little while to get used to but i do like this hull, again im mainly flatwater and the couple of times i have had it in surf im not as comfortable, but then im not a surf fan. some guys at wavedaze rode my hull and seemed to have no problem shredding this thing. i have been running a JM 718 with t/l on this hull and its been great .. no complaints.

local rider recently got a gen 2 bob, from what i saw the fit and finish was fine, few areas where it wasnt perfect, but then you can get that with a stock RN hull too. it definately rides light, feels like it rides lighter than the rok, i didnt get a great deal of time on the ski but id consider this hull

couple local guys have rickters, FS-2, XFS, I was also at ATP HQ when they off loaded two XFS's one glass and one carbon, the fit and finish on all thes rickters ive seen is second to none, a work of art!

I like the look of the WCF Vision, Blow XS1, Lightweight also and would love to try these on flatwater to see if they suit my style of riding

this is and always will be an emotional subjective topic as everyone loves the ski they ride! (until they sell it and then they love the one they are buying)

Ive never heard someone regret the fact they bought a freak.

How often do you hear ANYONE regret buying any hull?
It would be pretty humbling to come on here and tell people that you screwed up by spending thousands of dollars on a hull you don't like.

Those that truly don't like their hull shut up about it and sell it.

I'm just gonna say it. There are plenty of threads with this information in them already. Search for keywords: superfreak, bob, stunt, rickter, eme, vision, rok, kong, etc. Plenty of discussions out there. It has been discussed ad nauseum and you probably won't get a whole lot more here.

I take it all back. My bad. There was plenty more to discuss obviously.
