Freestyle hulls in the surf...who does it? Which hull?

Tell what you "orta do".... The cheapest short hull is a chan... put a Ltd 701 stock pump etc... short wide hulls don't ride near as smooth. I noticed that big time. You could wait for tweeter 2.1.

Short hulls work well for tricks but if you are actually going to surf ride the waves it becomes a challenge. The rickter edge seems to do both well. I love my v2 bot in the surf but it's tiring because it's setup for flatwater. I also like to ride the full tank 5gal vs 2-3gal which are found in most freestyle skis.

Considering I have rode in the surf less than 10 times over the years, I'm mostly a carver. But hope to be getting some experience and serious air now that I'm moving to south Florida. I will be riding out of Boynton and Jupiter which is a bit of a hike to get to the break.
Big group of us ride out of Boynton. Join our group on facebook, "florida freeriders", if you haven't already

I joined a few months ago. Just moved down this weekend. I'll be there for good after the Southern Fried Freeride this weekend. I have a 1105 circus for flat but no surf ski right now.

Do people still say "shutup and get a Superjet?", cause it applies here. :)
Do you want to RIDE it, or BOB around on it? A tubbied hull that's about 3 inches shorter than a std SJ is STILL a nice surf ride.

True. He had one. The Gomez SJ but we sold it before he knew he was moving to FL.

I swapped skis in the surf with ScottS this past weekend. Pretty sure I enjoyed his Predator more than he did my Chan. haha. I still have a blast on my ski but it's difficult to flow on a short wide hull in surf. Maybe if I had a long rideplate..or even knew where to order one.... Predator suprised me. Probably my new fav.

Scotts Predator does ride really nice in the surf, a Trinity Matrix is also a really stable ride, but Thrillhill's RN superjet (built by ScottS) is awful close for alot less money. someone correct me if I'm wrong rockered nose, cut 4" in rear, widened tray with footholds and widened bondrail with a mild 701 and its a BLAST!!!!!

I rocked my BOB Gen3 in the surf and loved it. Since selling that, I just ordered a BOT v2, where was your rideplate cut for surf vs flatwater?

The BOB vs v2 Bot will be night and day difference. My plate is really short. I have my pole really short too which doesn't help. I can measure it if you would like.
