I feel like the Footrocket is right behind the BOB in terms of terrible surf hulls, the Matrix would be a killer surf hull.

I think a lot depends on what kind of surf you get. If it's always snotty 1-2 foot surf your going to want a boat that leans more towards flatwater. If you get large waves that curl you will want a heavy, full length boat.

For me the only choice for aftermarket would be an FR2 or for stock boat a Superjet with tubbies and a short ride plate.

Thanks bud, its fact based on actual ride time in the tray. You get a lot of surf in Ohio? LOL
We do get some big nasty waves and i can say that when i had my Bob gen 2 out in em, it was not fun. I think everyone but you will agree that bobs suck in waves. But thats coming from a "keyboard rider". LOL

Come ride lake erie in a gale warning :) No one will notice how you piss yourself. It's just a lake right?

Don't worry, we got ropes around our waists just like you buddy, even if the 4 ft breakers are 3 seconds apart. LOL

Are we going to get a killer 10 foot beach break? Nope. But by the time you get from the 12-15 ft washing machine inlet to the beach a quarter mile away, try to stay up in the rollers a 100 yards from shore, venture in to the break for a run and try to get back out without swamping your ski because the next 6 footer came 5 seconds sooner than you thought you'll have a new appreciation for the term "lake", buddy.

Juuuust sayin.

And by the way, I'd trade "waves" or, excuse me "surf" or any sort of distortion of a stable body of water with you coastal riders ANY day. Great lakes are hard to deal with.

Tell that to the survivors of a man who lost his life in the same conditions described just a few short years ago. But yes, back to the best way to idle around in footholds in salt.

The FootRocket is a pretty bad @$$ hull in the surf and shouldn't be compared to the bob, that is quite the insult. I guess it all comes down to your riding style, I have rode a few a/m surf hulls and still like the FR better.

Lol @ "Official surf"!

I really like having some rocker on a hull. I'm dangerous on a superjet because I'm too stupid to avoid going too far over a wave and catching the nose and getting rolled. My superfreak saved me many times. My rn hurt me a few times.

I'm on a bargain hunt and just wanted some opinions on which aftermarket hulls could be good for surf so I can snag one if I find a good deal.

How much shorter than stock was the pole?
