Freestyle project hull

Yes it does a bit, Maybe because of both being derived from an SXR top deck? short length and forward pole position.
I have opted for using a moded SJ lower, I believe the lenzi boat uses the SXR lower.

The clear coat is PVA it is water based and does dry a bit like cling film.
The gray colour is the Besta topcoat I spray in the mould before laying up it gives a colour as I am not using a gel coat, And helps release from the mould!

I wish I could get EZ sand here in Thailand but alas no!

Well the nose is almost done together with the hood the nose looked a bit blunt but putting some sort of emblem on it looks better,I am planning to make a finisher to cover the pole bolt. Its tray area tomorrow .

Luker, I am based in Pattaya, Do you ever get over here?

Chad, Yes that is a Maxxx Pole, The CNC machining is excellent it is a very nice part.
It comes with rose jointed adjusting rods but I think when I finalise the top angle I may replace with aluminium strips for lightness as when the pole pad is on they cannot be seen.

Forming sections from polystyrene foam cut with a hot wire , sanded 40grit then 80grit, covered with glass cloth 48g or 200g then bondo works very well.
The wire can be bought from model shops, I just connected it to a battery charger and turned up the amps until it started to cut the foam. I found using a small current / slow cut was easier to control.
I have not included the foot holds as It would mean I could not use a one piece mould for the top deck, So they will be moulded separately and cut in later also the placement can then be set to suit the height of the rider.
We will hopefully get the first primer on today ..

Luker, If you get to Pattaya we could hook up for a beer or two and some jet skiing of course !

Well Primed and blocked twice, Painted and polished, Time to wax for taking a mould off.

I spray the part to be moulded (grey) then one coat of red for two reasons the first being it is a good colour to see any trapped air in the layup and when I flat and polish any undulations in the mould I know when I am through the grey and to stop!

The second to last pic is the two layers of 48gram cloth put on with colloidal silica in the epoxy resin to thicken it up to help the cloth stick round the corners, Any sharp concave corners are filled with colloidal.

We will carry on tomorrow building up the layers on the mould, 1x 200g, 1x400g and then 3x600g

The bond flange looks wide all round but it is to be cut down to about 50% at the front running out to full width about level with the back of the engine bay.
