FREESTYLE(Run time on these setups)STROKERS

Boris

The Good Old Days
Call Xscream. When I picked my ski up I was talking to Radney about how many hrs/gallons to run my stroker. He was telling me that the pumpkin (pat's ski) ran 1yr 3 months before it was pulled apart. He said that ski runs every weekend on race gas & has had a lot of hrs/gallons through it. 1000cc motor that I'm sure isn't babied!

The Pumpkin is treated like a total whore and she keeps on giving. That ski is proof that a properly set up stroker can be as reliable as a stock stroke motor but with a shait lot more power.
Strokers are only as good as the guy building them, if I was told to pull the motor down every 32 hours I'd look elsewhere.

Well Said Boris! I got at least 20-25 gallons on mine now, I ride 5-10 gallons a week & will be riding all summer long! No plans to pull anything apart, until she says she needs it!

My Teamscream motor rips!

Our 8mils go an entire season on a top end turning 7800 plus rpm. That is with RAD or Crankworks cranks and Lamey PV cylinders and 220lbs of cpmpression. Basically, we put a fresh top end in the ski in Feb. and ride it all year long, racing, practicing, screwing around. If we can do that turning the rpms we turn, especially under load in turns, I don't see how setting one up for freestyle would be less reliable. As mentioned earlier, you guys aren't pushing the rpms we do, and its those upper rpm range runs that wear out a motor. I think someone sait it best earlier, it comes down to who builds the motors and who tunes them more than anything.

Just my opinion.

What oil ratio are they reccommending?

32:1 & Xscream said to run Mercury Marine Quicksilver oil. I'm running a 6mil stroker/860cc xscream built motor.

Another builder told me kinda the same thing on strokers, tear down around 75 gallons or so! I went with another shop!

Build it & let it rip!

I have been wary of quicksilver due to it being a different colour at least once a year. I have seen it be a dark-blue, brown and green. Got my favourite oil which gives excellent protection at a good price. Got asked yesterday if the Envinrude E-Tec synthetic oil would be good in a ski(seen as they reprogram the E-tec to inject 50% less oil when you are running it). Anyone tried it?

32/60?

My 10MM stroker 525 Banshee has quite a bit less stroke and bore, but I am on my 5th season riding it. I ride that girl like someone else is paying for her. 200 psi on race gas.

No less than twice a month during the season 10 hrs max over a three day ride. Crap, I probably have 100+ hours on my bottom/top end. I have top fuel honed the top end once after a jetting probem first weekend and after that, never been back inside the motor.

I will ask Kyle or Dan what their opinion a non-race/race motor program should look like.

I talked to Dan and Kyle and they both said the 30/60 deal would be the motor program for a RACE ski.

They both said 60 hours on the top and 100 hours and the bottom would be acceptable for a rec motor program.

Dan stressed that that is more or less an inspection and not necessarily needed to replace hard parts.

My buddy runs that e tec oil. Good stuff, smells good! No problems with his Ski & lots of hrs.

IMO 50 hours for a 1st inspection is pretty reasonable for a high-output engine. We can learn some lessons from the motocross people on this subject... treat a nice engine like a stock engine and it'll go BOOM on you eventually! :smashfreakB:

chuck said to run the none syn. oil because it burns and the syn. oil doesnt burn as well if it burns at all. guess thats all the sludge that comes out of some of the skis
