Not knowing exactly what you want has stopped anyone from posting a price in the past. Engine builders and hull builders both do it. I can understand that he can't give us a hard number to cover shipping, assembly, etc. but that doesn't mean he can't give us a base price for the intro version plus hood. That's all anyone is really asking. They want to know the basic cost for the carbon version and the fiberglass version. Engine builders don't include the price of case machining that you will need or the new head instead of stock to accomodate the larger bore. Hull builders don't include padding, turf, paint, or sometimes even footholds. The additional costs are just part of the package that we all know (or should know) will be extra.

On a side note though, I could never see myself spending thousands of dollars on a hull that only weighs slightly less than a stock hull.

I agree with the weight thing for sure. But width and length make a difference too IMO. If the ski weighs the same as an SJ but is alot more boyant it will ride and feel totally different IE LIGHTER.

I still think its unfair to ask for a price on A HUL. No one specifically listed what they wanted on here at all. If I told you what I paid for the ROK in my shop you would SHIOT yourself if I didnt give you the details.

So let me get this straight... Your hull looks exactly like a Rickter, weighs about the same as a Rickter, and costs about the same as a Rickter but it's not a Rickter? You've said it's not a Rickter but so far I'm not seeing a difference other than one being genuine and one being a knock off from someone we've never heard of.

LOL, hey, I think you're onto something..... Sure, he put a saggy meat curtain shaped thing in the front, and reshaped the hood a little, but it's still a Rickter splash/rehash/knockoff right down to the adjustable footholds.

I think anyone that tries to make a hull more suitable is onto a good thing. Sure, it looks like a Rickter, but how many newly designed hulls don't? The rickter was the first to produce the nose rocker to thier hulls, and now everyone is doing it. I fail to see the problem with what this guy is doing? How many people have ripped off a stock Superjet and sold it for profit...the only difference being a different material/layup schedule and a smoothed over fuel filler. So Yamaha is a big company, and maybe they don't produce hulls specifically for freestyle, but what the difference between making a splash of a SJ hull and a Rickter? How many people have ripped off footholds, tubbies etc? How is this guy any different to the others where he should be shot down for having a go himself? This could have some features that the Rickter really needs, like nose stability etc...

exactly! i was just talking to a friend about aftermarket hulls and we were saying that someone should come out with a good surf ski similar to the rickter but with a b.o.b pricetag. now if he can only get that price down a little.

Not to mention if your in Europe it will be a cheaper option because of shipping...

this coming from a guy that spends his time copying other people's parts?you've got to be kidding right?
assuming you're a real professional you should refrain from making that kind of comments.

hey man, I'd copy other people's parts. :dunno:

there's only so many ways to skin a cat.

It's too bad that more well-known companies don't make standups. I mean there only one way to make certain parts for these things.

Feel the same it's closer for me to get the ski but the bob is cheaper and has a lot better feedback due to how long it's been out plus even including shipping I could get a bob to my door for less than this ski is on it's own

Someone finally said it!!!
BASEING a new product off something that already exsists is wrong. But totally copying an OE part and calling it your own is ok I guess?

this thread is a sad example of why a lot of company's don't post here...

a bunch of no nothing whiners that think they know everything...

Some of them know how to copy other peoples products, does that count? Agreed.

Or they will tell you how their idea is the best and only way to do something simply because they came in 3rd place many years ago in freestyle.

All details of the debate aside....

Anyone who is compairing the price of a vinylester hand/wetlayup to a epoxy vacumm bagged layup is VERY misinformed.
