Found out the pfp manifold ports are casted crooked from each other, so I'm suppose to make a custom homemade gasket and silicone to get a perfect seal, I think this is bs, manifold cost $750 retail and it doesn't even fit
, found out it was designed for a 62t base cylinder, I have a 61x.
First, I found my issues when i went to pressure test my engine with manifold on, air leak in the cooling passage.
I pulled the manifold off and cut away the excess gasket to find that it was only sealing on about a 1/16 or so of gasket... the green 61x gasket fits my engine ports perfect, so not sure if a custom homemade gasket would fix my issue anyways.
So, not one to jerry rig anything together, I welded the ports smaller. The rear was the worse, but I went ahead and did the front, since it didn't line up right either.
I ground off the majority of the weld, then used blue dykem and marked out my gasket template, port matched, then finished by hand sanding on a flat stone.
The ports line up perfect now, only need $6k in tools and the know how to get it there, it's crazy that this manifold is so poorly casted for what they charge for them, but I guess, that's the jetski niche market for you.
Engine installed for the final time today, cooling lines hooked up etc.
The paint behind the U-bolt was damaged, didn't really like that.
So I made a stainless backer plate and ran it threw my split roller machine to get the same curve as the ski. A new U-bolt kit would have came with this plate, but I had the time today, so why not.
Much better
