Gains BB, stroker, Mag pump, TL...

Sounds to me like you've over looked something somewhere... have you played with the low speed screws? Checked that you are getting full throttle at both carbs? ( Not bashing but i have seen clear as day problems like this cause people to blame the motor) What did you tell Art when you sent it to him to have the motor built? Did you tell him you were gonna be running TL right off the bat? Might be a shot in the dark but 180 psi sounds a little on the light side for pump gas safe with an enhancer. Is it possible you had him set it up for you with the intention of making the most power with total loss?

Ive done EVERYthing just as Art said too. My cooling routing, jettting, prop, cone, Bpipe settings... ect

So was the cylinder ported with Total Loss in mind?

If that's the case, then you're losing some bottom end from NOT running the ignition that the motor was built for.

Might be a shot in the dark but 180 psi sounds a little on the light side for pump gas safe with an enhancer.

It isn't on the light side. I used to run about 175psi on my Big Bore on pumpgas, and that was the safe max.

Who else runs the 4mm from Art?? Or even a BB other then Matt and I?

I'm running an 849bb(groupk) in my 92 sx with porting, novi 48s, timing advance, groupk mod head and an unidentified coffmans system with stock electric and stock pump(solas 14-17 and blowsion cone) and I'm kinda disappointed. I do think it's because I'm not getting the power to the water like we're talking about. So I was thinking about getting a mag pump and TL next to see if that compliments my build and gives me what I'm looking for.. Then I found this thread. I'm also getting an ada girldled head and a new pipe.. Thinking about factory limited.. Any thoughts on my situation??

I have a BB from Art with B pipe, MSD Enhancer, stock flywhel, ADA head, 44mm OEM carbs & hooker prop. Everybody who rides it is very impressed at the amount of pull it has. I couldn't be happier with it myself. If I remember right the entire package out the door was $1900 for top end, prop and ADA head.

I know someone on here was saying the same thing. They got a group K 849 big bore kit and thought it should have more power. They sent to motor to art the next year for him to look it over. He ported it his was and I think rised the compression and sent it back. The person said it had way more power then before. I would give Art a call and see what he can do for you.

What pitch hooker prop did you end up going with. Did Art tell you to run that prop?

I never said what my compression was, the only time I checked it was the other day on a fogged engine that was cold and in my house and got like 165 I think. And no, I have touched NOTHING since Art set it up. No jetting, no bpipe screws, nothing. I started this thread not to say that my motor wasnt good enough but to ask about the impact of Mag pump and T/L.

So was it ported for TL or not? :dunno:

I will have to ask Art. I told him that I would be getting TL and he still knows that. But there ARE a few things that we discused on more then one occasion that he would do and he didnt during the build so I will have to ask him to look in his notes

Initially I ran just an enhancer and stock flywheel and he set up the porting for that.
A year later I got TL and higher compression and he updated the porting accordingly.
There is a difference - if yours was set up with TL in mind (you said you told you'd be getting it?) and you're running an Enhancer, then you're not running at 100% of what it could be.

No welding, just taking out a bit more material from cylinder and sleeves.
I can tell you that going from the enhancer + 165psi to TL and 200 psi was a big difference.
Putting in the mag pump after that was a HUGE difference.
