Custom/Hybrid Gen2 BOB build... Finally...

Wow..
Where did the build go? LOL..

Anyways, nothing is being made up here.. we actually removed the CF Battery box, and got a stock one just to see if it would fit.. Well it does not.
It hits the front right motor mount, therefore, it will not sit flat, or even close to flat, on the battery mount.... Just wanted to confirm that with everyone.. A stock box did NOT fit.

That being said, in no way am i hating on BOB, I love my BOB.. And i want to ride the thing.. Im just saying how the build is going, as is mark,..

Mark lays out facts.. he doesent really beat around the bush, you got a "donkey d1ck" gas cap mount, well he will straight up tell you that, verbadum. Thats just how it is. And its true... i had a donkey dick gas cap.. and ended up getting a much nicer new one, no jankey stuff going on this build.
He is a perfectionist, which IMHO is a great person to have around doing a build...

That being said, none of the comments are meant to "hate" on BOB, its a BUILD thread, therefore we are updating how the BUILD is going on... It is fairly simple theory actually..

We built a product, and people liked it. We produced it, sold it, and learned from it.
A year later, after learning much more about composites, hull design and hull strengths, we developed our second model.
People loved it even more. Again, we produced it, we sold it, and we still learn from it.

The quality and finish of each hull gets better and better. We're trying to help out the guys who are on a budget get more into freestyle, and Chris is a great example. Young kid like myself, very eager to get into freestyle, but he's a student on a budget, so we helped him on the price a bit too, try to help him get on the water on a new ski and into the competition scene.

Our target market isn't the guys with the money for the $30,000 show room skis, we're trying to help out the guys that just want to get out and ride, and be able to feel what it's like to flip without going broke.

We understand that not everyone is going to like the hull, and we get that. We totally understand it, its not for everyone, no big deal. We also understand that it's not the equivalent to a product that a major company has made thousands of over 20 years. But we do know that a very large majority of our clients absolutely love the hulls. One of our dealers has ordered over 10 hulls in about year because they like it so much.

We also understand that there is room for improvement, and I'm sure every hull maker feels the same about their products. No hull is going to be perfect in everyones eyes, but we do know that we have a pretty good hull for only making them for just over 2 years. Not to mention each hull only gets better than the last.

Like I've said before, if you're having problems with assembling the hull, simply give us a call or shoot us an email. We stand behind our products 100% and do what we can to help out each and every one of our clients.

Sorry I just tell it how it is. No kid gloves here.
There are good and bads of every hull out there. Everyone likes to hear the good but once a bad pops up its "oh you must be doing somthing wrong" or the "oh we never heard of one sinking" then facts are stated of when and where and pics and videos of how a batt box doesn't fit. Then you get "oh that's your neg opinion" WHAT!?!? Lol
Im just a drug dealer who does this stuff on the side for fun. So what do I know.

DK I think the part that you are missing or miss directing is that I'm not saying anything bad about the hull or about ski clinic.
If anything I have said how great your holds are over the Rickter holds and any others. Also the hull is built to do what it does flip never said it doesn't do that.

Just a few small things that I have pointed out along this build. But anytime I say somthing you go into full defense mode.

As well you should be. But don't let that blind you to improvements.

Trust me, each hull gets better and better. We invest back into the product for the improvements it needs. We saw the quality of the exterior was pretty rough at the end of the year, so we made new moulds for EVERYTHING. Improved the finish. We also redid our jigs to make everything line up better than before, and it works. We even install a pump during inspection to ensure the pump shoe makes a tight seal before we ship it off. Improvements are always being made.

I see both sides, an having personally dealt with dk senior an junior I have no doubt in my mind they'll back there product 100%. I also see that twin has had issues, as did I on my hull. Not there fault, but skats an there poor quality control. What'd the ski clinic do about it? Offered to assemble my ski for me. They're the ones who found the issue, I went an saw it first hand. Not there problem, but they went above an beyond to help me out. I've bought two bobs from them, and had them work on my Rok. I'd trust there work any day of the week. All the pissing back an forth has gotten excessive. I understand the constructive criticism, an I'm sure it's been duelly noted. Let's not sidetrack this build with minor issues that have been brought up. Everyone reading this, plus all parties involved are learning from it. It's not like the ski clinic washed there hands an said owell. They've offered to do whatever to accommodate chris. I'm guilty of calling twin out, which was not my place. Let's just get it built an see what chris thinks of the final product. Enough useless bickering back an forth.

I've been following this thread and know what your goin through twinturbo......I went through the build issues and had my fair share of problems due to some builder errors at the ski clinic but Derrick sr did everything he could to accommodate us and make things right!!! And all you are doing is pointing out obvious things that needed to be addressed ....... not being a nitpicking little whiner! I think a lot of the new freestyle riding kids haven't built any skis yet and just get on the X and shoot there mouths off without having the experience of building a hull and having the struggles of doing it!

I have built our Bob Gen 2 hulls and many superjets and SXRs and an EME Q8 sky and they all have their issues ....some more than others. We had our fair share with our Bobs but with working with Derrick they turned out to be great hulls and I will guarantee you the next hull I will buy will be a Gen 3!

Twinturbostangs if you want to call me to talk about the Bob or if anyone wants any info feel free to call me at 262-689-4063. Just leave a message if I miss it. I'm just frustrated that people run their mouths and don't know what we are dealing with. I talked with Chris at length when he first got this hull and am willing to help anyone understand that these are great hulls and just need some love!

Just my 2 cents.......

Not to deter thread, mine was the q8 sky that was build above and it was alot harder build than a bob. I dont think twin is coming at the ski clinic, just pointed out very clear issues for other people to consider. I chose not to build my ski becasue I wanted someone with all of the proper know how. I am a perfectionist, just like twin and chose a builder (powerhouse performance), who understood how detailed oriented I would be on a build.
Chris I'm sure the ski will be perfect, It just takes time. I enjoy hearing the honest truth from someone building the ski.

Sorry to sound ignorant but where and when is it? I own a landscape business Herr in Wisconsin so travel is limited for me:(

Wavedaze is a freeride event on Virginia Beach on April 27-29th. It's a blast man, if you can make it happen I'd definitely recommend it! It's just a layed back event with a bunch of people who are all there for the same reason and it's good to meet some of the people you have talked to online and see all the different skis to get some good build ideas and ride other peoples skis with some different setups.

Jace Forest...BRAP!
I was just answering your question on if it was normal for the battery box to not fit. Which I can only speak for myself, and mine fit. Not calling you crazy cause obviously yours doesn't fit.
Good thing it's almost together cause I just wanna see vids of it on the water, flippin and Rollin...and maybe even a fist pump or two. BRAP!!!

I wish we could make the trip down but I doubt it:( We will all be gong to the Wisconsin Dells Freeride on June 1-3 so we have a number of skis to build before that. I hope that some of the X members can make that one!

wow.. interesting build thread, mark is a perfectionist and so he should be thats the right way to be

ive been following bob builds with interest as i like how the products have evolved and yes there are issues

what concerns me is that marks constructive critism is being percieved as hating, if it were my product id be welcoming the feedback and improving on it

when i read the "speak to the guys at the shop" comment that translates to "speak to someone who gives a f**k"... not good PR - and DK - YOU ARE the ski clinic on this website so pick your words wisely

lots of comments about price point... interesting thing here is the ROK is at the same price point, with the exception of needing some shorter than stock bolts i personally had zero additional work to do and the fit and finish was perfect

just my $0.02 on the subject

Chris... great build .. looking forward to seeing your ski and meeting you at wavedaze

Its really crazy how this thread just got out of control. Build some more am hulls and you will see some crazy :):):):). A couple of small issues and it blows out of control. Yes mark was pointing somethings out and it went into a pissing match. :):):):) happens!!!! Buy a superfreak $8000. And spend 40 hours setting it up. But when done it was all worth it. Thats why they are custom. Ride it and enjoy

I think the best thing to take away from all of this was the "custom ski custom problems" quote. Hahahahahah
