GROUP K 845cc SuperJet Freestyle Tech Info

Still Fat....
I have been in talks with Harry regarding her SXR build and plan to meet him in Havasu.

That is cool there is an alternative to the stoker setup for the SJ now

it's not gonna get me to move away from a Lamey or a stroker...
i still think a lamey cylinder is the way to go, but this offers another option

this is a different class than a Lamey......a new cyl from DASA is 2k...

groupk K's entire PACKAGE ready to bolt up is less than that

ive been researching this stuff in greater detail lately and this hammer package is VERY attractive!

BK that motor you sold awhile back woudl have been the perfect platform for one of these motors!!!!

Group K seems to be breaking away from their conservative ways. Intersting

I am good with what I got now. Plus I got very little in it. Need to get domes recut to get my squish corrected.

DASA cyl's are 2k??
wierd, i've gotten quotes and the highest have been 1700 brand new, which yes is close to 2k (may also depend on the type you are seeking and the wait time for one.

not saying the GroupK isn't a viable option, it most certainly is, and like BK says seems to be targeting that higher performance market.

i'm just saying if you are investing that much, don't rule out the Lamey cyl, they really are worth it
again each setup has it's pros and cons too which must be investigated. i prefer the brutal lamey punch over the smooth and linear curve (just fits my riding style of rec riding)

No he will not!
Lamey is to much of a light switch for me. IMO but I have only rode one.

I think the light switch feel is almost always the result of crap loads of power. If you have a motor capable of making huge power, it's hard to make that same motor be squishy on the bottom. Big power motors rev much faster, which I think is what gives the light switch feeling :woot:

Oh yeah, this motor package sounds pretty nice to me. I've never liked the short life and expensive cost of stroker cranks, I may look into getting something like this for my 'retired' life.......I do still want to make the neighbors say wow :haha:

I'm pretty sure the speedo does that....no motor needed:fing02: and I don't mean wow in a good way...

I agree. The occasional stoker/race gas/TL/mag pump passenger the power may seem violent and unusable/light switch.

I believe original setup of a stroker package and good maintenance practices can make a stroker last as long as any other high HP motor. My stroker is ending it's third season with somewhere around 15 drums of fuel through it. I've honed and replaced pistons once and will rebuild the crank this winter just for good measure. My gut feeling on this new group k motor is that it's gonna end up being no better in long term cost than any other exotic motor. I think with the exception of the initial cost of a stroker crank it's actually gonna cost more in maintenance than a good stroker. My pistons are plain old domed Wiseco yamaha pistons and I have 4 bores left. Harry's pistons are just as expensive as flat tops and may become difficult to get. What's more, you only have ONE BORE!!! Who builds a $2000 recreational motor with a single overbore? VERY bad technical decision, IMO. The wiseco's will experience skirt collapse(not all bad) just like every other wiseco. This is gonna mean that in fairly short time the pistons are gonna be knocking around and will need much more frequent replacement than a smaller bore motor. A good stroker on an OE or ADA/Lamey cylinder is much more cost effective long term and will allow many overbores and will make more power to boot(IMO). In similar displacement motors, longer stroke will nearly always make more torque than bigger bore. When reading the groupk stuff on this motor, make sure to read all the other "mandatory" things needed. Check out the $80 head gasket. The price starts getting up there pretty quickly. Several companies build an awesome stroker on an OE cylinder that will easily fall within the price range of this motor.

I will not be going away from my stroker
the hit this thing has is awesome
I dont think this engine is going to be all that special

Lets remember if your building an 845 Group K engine more than likely you are not going to run your 5 year old crank. lets add a crank to the bill.

That's true. When you finish adding all the required pieces that aren't included in the price this is gonna be as pricey as a stoker. I don't think it'll be any more reliable either.
