I can't make it a whole season on a small battery wit a high compression motor. Ingest a little water once or twice and you will be wishing for full weight. The only thing I liked better about a small battery was being able to pull the tank if I had to without pulling the batttery.

Ballistc batteries have given me zero problems . So far I've been lucky enough to not have sunk a ski with one in it . Submerging battery will possibly short it out beyond repair . There are myths going round about these catching on fire . These are not lithium like in your computer and will not explode . I have an 8 cell in my superjet and it spins over an 8 mil Dasa with 215psi with ease . Never let me down.

I have been using the Interstate AGM YTX15L-BS.....a match to the odyssey PC545....11lbs.....$75.00....I am only getting 2 strong seasons out of them :grumble:

I still have a shoria but it is a free replacement. Mine worked great but got water in it somehow without ever being submerged. I sealed this one up but have only used it a handful of times. You will hear good and bad stories from any of these new batteries. At this point it is gamble in the reliability department. the weight savings is there, the ability to run my total loss and starter all day is there but the failure rate is also very high. Lots of cheap acid batteries have died quickly within a season but the better AGM batteries are solid. I have a 6 year old deka 9lbs on backup. for lithium iron, 12 cell anything is what i have/would buy again. Shoria does replace the battery if it fails. If your into gambling madmat, tryout an anti-gravity battery. I haven't read any standup watercraft reviews of how it lasts yet.

I've had 2 of the 14lb odysees both last well over 10 years , and they saw countless charges and recharges using msd total loss .Still use one of them buoy riding and have had it since 99. A couple of things that will kill any battery are hooking up a charger backwards , complete discharge without recharging .

Do you use it with TL ?
I have not but others have. I run an EPIC on an SS865 and it turns dual 500 bilges all day and still cranks.

When I got the EPIC, I upgraded to an ETX-14 thinking I would need the extra juice. The 14 failed and I have been running the 9 ever since.

From that site:
These compatible alternatives to the Deka products are manufactured 100% brand new by a manufacturer that is not endorsed or associated with Deka and are guaranteed by Apex Battery to work with your electronics.

Looks like a Deka knockoff to me. There are cheaper versions of that battery as low as $26... I'd stick with Deka.
