Custom/Hybrid Help me pick a hull

I need some help wasting my money. I have a 2004 sxr800. It has a pipe head and normal bolt ons. I only ride at lakes and the colorado river. Usually glass. All my friends ride superjets and I love how My sxr handles compared to them. What I hate is how heavy and big it is. I am purely a recreational rider and spend my time jumping boat wakes and chasing my friends around on there superjets. Id like to start doing a bit of freestyle. What I want is a ski that jumps like a superjet and handles like a sxr. Does this exist? Maby a small version of a sxr. Am I an idiot and should I just buy a superjet or does someone make a hull that will work for me.

Please give me your suggestions

thanks
Patrick

superfreak or maybe backie chan. off the sxr and get a SJ or some million dollar boat. no other hull is going to handle like the sxr except maybe a hydrospace. i liked jumping straight with my sxr over any superjet, but i'm a big guy. a fly taped to the bars might like the SJ better.

I have never rode an SXR, but I have a 08 superjet, they have quite a few changes from the older ones. They rail better than the older superjets and still jump great. A much cheaper alternative to any aftermarket hulls anyone will recommend to you.

I have heard several positive feedback on the QSM Vengance hull. I almost bought one to swap all of my sxr components into it but bought a Superjet instead. I now have both SXR and SJ. The Trinity EVO is an awesome hull, excellent quality, and insane strong. The price tag on the EVO is pretty high :/

A Trinity EVO is an exact copy of the sxr. Only much lighter. Of course, lighter weight will change the handling but not that much.

Sounds to me you're talking about a WDK ROK. I hear where youre coming from, I bought a Trinity EVO Pro and its an awesome product. I too wanted something a little more flickable and went with a carbon ROK.Sadly I was injured the day after I bought it and looks like I will have to sell it. There is also the Brawler hull that has got people smiling. Daralekt has one for sale,no wait. I,ve ridden a ROK in the surf and it was very competent in that venue. I think a ROK or a Brawler or a Trinity Matrix would be good all around "REC" hulls to consider, and they are all fairly affordable.

Forget about it all and get a Vision by Watercraft Factory. Best all around a/m hull there is, priced right.. I had 2010 SJ and upgrated to Vision, 10x more stable than the SJ, 20x more flippier, 30x more turnable. 40x times more fun on flat, 50x more fun in the ocean.

Lol, have you ridden every other A/M hull?

Rickter xfs or FS2 are great hulls. They're fairly expensive but are very well built. All the hulls listed above i've heard great things about, never ridden one, though. You could put you SXR motor into the rickter and run a yami pump.

Ride as many hulls as you can and form your own opinion. There are a lot of great choices out there, pros/cons with every a/m hull, but I'm sure you will be happy with your decision.

Buy a plane ticket to a freeride.
Ask people who will be at that freeride with different hulls if you can try them.
Ask those people nice enough to provide you with free test ride what they like to drink.
Buy them a 6-pack of that drink.
Decide for yourself.

If you're looking for a direct swap, you are going to be very limited. Plan on buying a yamaha platform and starting all over when you work out your budget.

You're missing a few... :)

More than that, hulls are very much personal preference. Lots of people love Freaks, some hate them. Lots of people love BoB handling, some hate it. I personally couldn't quite warm up to it.
People like to hate on EME handling when I find it to be quite rideable

Nothing against the backie chan, I'm not a part of this whole fanboy :):):):) fest that has been plaguing the forums recently, but... do people actually read what the OPs say when they ask questions? or do they just say, I like this or I like that. I may be way off the mark here but nothing about his question implied he'd be interested in anything with 'backie' in the name, or an abriviation that includes the word backflip.

I think the best thing to take away from your question, is that your can't trust the opinions of anyone but yourself. You have to ride them.

I haven't ridden a KDX, Backie chan, BOB, but I am pretty confident saying they are not for me. I would like to try them, I am sure they are great hulls and who knows, someday I might want one, but as a universal does everything hull, I'm having a hard time buying they would be good choices. I was practing 180s then racing buoys back and forth all afternoon. KDX is amazing, but I doubt anyone would want to hit a buoy course with one.

Again, not trying to dog any of these builders. They are all great at what they were designed for.

:) yes, ive ridden: SJ post/pre 08, kawi, rickter, supafreak (great hull), bob, footrocket.. how heavy is the trinity hull?

Mine weighed 285 with heavy Yuasa battery,RRP pole, billet cylinder and no fuel. I'm pretty sure you can use the Rad Dudes swap plate to mount your Kawi in a Yami based hull. Lots of good ones out there. I liked the SXR platform, went away from it, and went right back. Just me though. Take your time, big investment, you wanna be happy with it.

I loved my SXR. I looked at the Trinity EVO because all my parts would swap over. I bought a Trinity Matrix and went to SJ power. I road a BOB,Rickter, RN, and Marks Matrix. I preferred the the Matrix. I've only had mine on the water a few time .I think it's as stable as my SXR was. It just a awesome all around ski. Bobbi really puts out a nice hull. There on the high side for price but you get what you pay for with Trinity .

IMO you are describing a WDK ROK. I have not ridden one but I own a yamaha poweredWDK Envy (Similar to trinity EVO...full size SXR but light) and love it! Korn loves ROK's and owns a kawi powered EVO.
