Saw some kook embarrassing the community. Poor truck. Don't try this at home, kids.

Made a camping trip up on the Pendo'reille river this week. Maybe 200 miles round-trip without any problems. One comment at the ramp while I'm loading both boats......"pretty slick trailer, I like it".

I built my own hitch hauler in about an hour and a half. My Duramax has a 2.5” receiver and I hate the added slop with the receiver reducer to get back to the standard 2” hitch shank. So my main tube is 2.5” 1/4 wall and the rest is angle / flat stock to try and keep it light yet strong. One of the main places I ride is a gravel shore - zero sand - so I wanted to be able to beach the ski but not destroy the bottom of it. Hence the hitch hauler / beach stand combo. The stand fits in the hitch hauler tight, and the ratchet straps that go on the ski always go to the hauler - not to the beach stand. Works awesome couldn’t be happier. It works pretty well to watch the back yo camera - you can watch the ski start to float and know just when to stop.

What’s it rated for Chris? I don’t like the thought of the extra 2.5’ of leverage on the hitch receiver. I’ve got quite a bit of room on the tongue of the trailer I think I’ll weld a 3” OD 1/4” wall tube to the tongue of the trailer and put the ski hitch hauler on that.

Thanks fellas. It will be another year or so before the boat is done as I’ve got the transom cut off of it at the moment. Going to do a wrap around windshield, try to make the cockpit a 6 seater, and add a bustle with steps on the back. Tons of work yet to do.
