Hitch haulers and small cars

I'm in the market for a new car, I'd love to have something small and sporty that's good on gas for commuting into the city. My new job is downtown and im going to have about a 45 min to hour long commute, so the suburbans gotta go!

Does anyone use a hitch hauler on a smaller car or a hatchback?

check out the Hitch Hauler Threads........ But honestly, I would get a 4 door Wranger with a good set of tires. There are so many places to go trail riding out there..... So much to explore.

Yeah most small SUVs don't have a full frame under them. They only have a 1x1 hitch on the back for bike racks ect. My friend just went thru all that for his wife. The went with a 4runner in the end

Hitch hauler and even small trucks don't work well. Locals have to do adjustable hitch hauler so it does not scrape out of parking lots. I'd do a small car and trailer for the win. or mid sized SUV with 500 lb tonuge capacity min.

Hitch hauler on anything unibody scares me, the inserts just don't seem up to the task, I have seen some pulling out of a Jeep Cherokee (XJ) "frame" from hitch hauler use.
From my experience:
Jeep Cherokee - my frame inserts where okay, the suspension sagged hard, everything else worked okay
Ford Ranger - suspension sagged a bit, everything else was good
Nissan Frontier - about the same as the Ranger
F250 - couldn't even tell it was back there
