How do you afford this sport?

@brock once said on here he was dating a chick that told him she would kill him if he ever spent a lot of cash on a ring because she would rather have that money put towards ski parts.... Lucky aussie bastard. Brock did you marry that chick yet?

I purchased my first home when I was 19, and put myself through school. My first somewhat am hull was a modded 300 with a 701 that was a lot of fun. A slow progression into this sport makes you appreciate it more. I didn't have money to spend on ski's. I have 2 kiddos and a wife with a single income. What helped me afford it is the GREAT guys in my area that helped me scratch and claw my way into the freestyle world. The way you get into this sport is surround yourself with good people that have the same interests and treat them with respect. I have had nothing but good deals, favors, and friends to get me in!

More valuable than all the money in the world. No matter how well built a ski is, you will be wrenching at some point. Better have some buds to help or the knowledge to do it yourself.

I used to be big into "churning" and have opened and closed around dozen cards in the last few years. Credit was 780 last I checked. Open a card get the bonus, close it. Open a new card, get the bonus, close it. Takes around 2 minutes of your time and can net you $300-$500+

After we had our kid I had to pay around 7k in medical bills. I opened all new credit cards and ended up getting 1500$ cash back, then closed all the cards a few months later.
Omg! Churning....lol!

Everybody around here has gone to the 5 minute ski's..... No More taking off up river until we have half a tank and then turn back praying we dont run out of gas. You know what happens when you catch a boat going the opposite direction, you turn back and chase after it. then you really limp back praying you make it. Many times we did not. I miss those days. That is when riding was fun. I still have my SJ. I keep thinking about getting an AM Hull. But just have not been able to pull the trigger because of Finances and also "Do I really want one?"

I honestly could be just as happy building up a Stock Class Superjet to just rip up the lake.
The original reason I went with the 5 min skis is so I can hang out with my wife and kids on the beach, and get some ride time in. Too hard to get a few free hours to take off down river these days.

I spent a block of cash on 4-5 good am surf skis with a property sale. Sold the ones i never gelled with so at least got some cash back. Hopefully they will last me a few years. Kind of stocked up on all the parts to keep them all running. To fedex anything here it is like 300-400$ for say an exhaust or flywheel.

We don't have beaches in the middle of Alabama. Wife has done plenty of sitting on the bank while I ride. That is not her idea of fun. Don't blame her.

Now that I can blow through all my fuel in an hour the wife doesn't mind hanging out while I ride. She just has no idea what it cost to build it.

Here you go. Buy that new 900+ cc engine with the credit card below and get 500$ off. Or get the card for you and your wife and get 1000$ off. Then in a few months sign up again and get 1000$ off a new hull. And this is just one card..

*Edit: Unless you already have the money to fully pay off the card after making the purchase this is not going to be a good deal for you.*

I dont see that in the link you provided. I see that you get 50K points if you spend 4K in 3 months, which can be used for travel. How does that equate to $500? Am I missing something?
