The first sign you have the wrong girl is if you have less money with her than without her. If she hasn't picked up a tab by the 3rd date, she gets the boot.

How true that is my friend. My wife is awesome in that regard, and is a bigger cheapo than me.

The sport has gone to the top wage earners. The main reason is lack of financing, gone are the days when a 21yo could go to a dealer and leave with a new ski for $120/mo. Now it is very expensive and the "elite" status of participation is a major driver of enthusiasm for the sport. Once there is a flood of backflip skis around and everyone is doing it, the sport will die just like racing did.
I agree with you to a point. However right now you can walk into a dealership and leave with a new super jet for 160 a month. Not an AM hull, but it's still a great ski to get a younger guy into the sport.

Rosie showed us all he had balls by riding with Ice in the water and trying to flip.............

I Would consider Rosie one of my forum friends so I would hope he knows I'm razzing him. I saw his ice flips. He's more comitted than most of us.

My wife said she wants something to ride, but doesn't care what it is as long as she has something. So basically I get an extra jet ski of my choosing that someone else is paying for.

The best financial decision you can make is picking the right wife and making sure she wants to keep you.

You are spot on about the 30%!!! Also once you get a card never close it...makes it seem like you don't need the credit...just renegotiate terms and try for an increased balance.

Yep, never close a card, but also, if you are applying for a new card from the same company, it is good to have at least 2-9% utilization rate on the cards you have from that company, because if you have zero balances on all those cards, and apply for another card from the same company to take advantage of new rewards or more interest free periods, there is a good chance you will get denied the new card.

I used to be big into "churning" and have opened and closed around dozen cards in the last few years. Credit was 780 last I checked. Open a card get the bonus, close it. Open a new card, get the bonus, close it. Takes around 2 minutes of your time and can net you $300-$500+

After we had our kid I had to pay around 7k in medical bills. I opened all new credit cards and ended up getting 1500$ cash back, then closed all the cards a few months later.

I purchased my first home when I was 19, and put myself through school. My first somewhat am hull was a modded 300 with a 701 that was a lot of fun. A slow progression into this sport makes you appreciate it more. I didn't have money to spend on ski's. I have 2 kiddos and a wife with a single income. What helped me afford it is the GREAT guys in my area that helped me scratch and claw my way into the freestyle world. The way you get into this sport is surround yourself with good people that have the same interests and treat them with respect. I have had nothing but good deals, favors, and friends to get me in!
