remove the ability to edit original post. If we see someone in a bump add something, then remove thread and ban them from listing any future items.
I'm sure you mods have better things to do with your time. Keep things simple. Even a user aggreement for posting in classifieds would help. Violate user aggreement, visit Suzi.

I think adding this dollar per thread is just gonna be way to complicated. New rules, paying per bump, no editing original post, just seems like way more work then it needs to be.

Annual fee and a dollar for every bump or every ttt......

That could get expensive really quick, I'd rather just see the annual fee increase.

Agreed! user agreement, yearly fee!

I'd be ok with that, I already encourage people to post multiple items/thread. The end goal is not money-making, but keeping the site usable.

We have a good amount of interest in increasing the yearly fee, can you add a option for that to the poll and maybe reset it?

I for one don't really like the idea. Right now we have people that post adds on here and PWCT. I think adding a $1 cost would keep some parts from being sold here. The hard core PWCT users won't post their stuff here for exposure.

I don't have a prob with it as it is. It's not like we have a bunch of couch parts outs or anything. Maybe I'm missing what the issue is.

What did I pay for a year I think 10 dollars right ??? I would be glad to pay an extra 5 bucks. Since being on the X I have sold one part and bought alot. Having access to these deals makes life alot easier. The idea is to make it better versus more work. I am down to pay a little more. Even if I was to pay 20 bucks a year as a member I would go with it.

Tha way I came to the X was from google searching for parts and got hooked.

Based on the # of people that subscribe, $10 is already pushing it for what it is.

Back to the drawing board. Maybe I'll just make a sticky in the for sale section suggesting a donation if you sell a lot.

I think like 10$ yearly membership for everything else...
and maybe a 25$ yearly membership if you would like to have access to posting in the FS section...
That seems fair enough..
1$ per thread would add up to more then 15$, you me and everyone knows that..
but 5$ is just too little.
25$ is a fair number to post in the for sale section and everywhere else..

You cant go too high, or people are going to start posting their For Sale stuff in their specific sections(I.E. SXR parts FS in the SXR section.. SJ parts will be listed in the SJ section, and so on), In addition to tht, I personally think you need to have a yearly fee, because frankly its going to be too much 1$ per bump or per thread or whatever...

I think a bunch of people don't subscribe b/c even though its been discussed a lot, they're not technically forced to do it. If I wasn't bored every morning at work, I probably wouldn't have taken the time to read the thread about subscribing and the benefits of it and how it helps the site out, but since I did I had no problem at all subscribing.

I honestly don't think people would mind paying to have full access to the site in order to be able to sell their items. I'm a youngster and need every bit of the cash from my unused used parts that I have laying around, and I always post them on here for a reasonable price and they always sell within 2 days. Its super convienent and honestly believe people wouldn't stray away from the X over 10 or 15 bucks.

I say reset the poll w/ this option and see how it goes.

but if you had to pay to post in the for sale thread. I think a lot more people would pay. This site is a great tool, and I think most of us would pay a few extra bucks to use the for sale section. If I had to sell every part on ebay I am sure I would spend way than 15 a year on fees. So $25 a year would be fair in my book.

Maybe a Preffered sellers list will work as a page you pay to be on or advertise on.

For ten dollars I get waaaaaaay too many benefits as it is.

Sure a hundred dollars is silly for a year or is it ???

Just throwing stuff at the wall to see if it sticks.

How about making the for sale section part of a yearly $10 subscription? A lot more people would be willing to pay to subsribe to get more PM storage, no ads, AND selling priveleges.

I think BK was joking on that one. Not being able to edit the first post sucks IMO, look at pwctoday.

My point exactly, I think it could even be higher than that. People dont pay now because they dont have too. Take away the for sale section and you would see a lot of people willing to pay the yearly fee to be able to sell things.

Editing is a must.

I personally would rather have a sticky about manageable sales post and/or occasionally pm sellers to remind them instead of charging PER POST.
IMHO, that would upset the community feeling that we have here.
Short of that, I do like the yearly fee, but just incorporate into the already existing yearly donation. But ultimately, I think free with some moderation is the best approach (unless we're hurting for money).

I'd much rather see threads per item. Who wants to scroll through 4 pages of people talking parts to find out at the end of it the item you wanted it already sold.
Some people do a good job keeping the first post organized and updated, most don't.

I don't see the problem with multi-item threads, once that item is sold it doesn't get bumped unlike the proposed idea. Right now the "bumped & new threads" make up less than 3 pages deep.

In closing, Its a lot faster to read titles across 3 pages than it is to open every thread on one page to view whats being sold.

Im on another (different non-jetski) forum that charges $20 for a lifetime subscription. This subscription allows you to have and avatar (non members cant have one) and allows you to have access to a top secret members only area. Works pretty good and regular visitors almost always pay the $20

I think you guys are not on the same page.

Actually I was not joking. Tim, keep in mind we are just batting ideas around. We could have easily just said "Here is the deal, you will now pay $1.00 per for sale thread" and not given anybody a choice. MTBR.com does it this way, they have a separate "For Sale" Section. for additional $ you can post a link to it. You cannot just go in the forum and make a "For Sale" thread. But we decided to throw it out there. Now, There are several here who are "Power Sellers" who are making alot of money at the sites expense and are reaping the rewards. One Seller has been considerate and consolidated most of his stuff. Now, is it fair for them to profit from this site? Now, you got the guy selling a part for $15.00, yes, $1.00 cuts into that. But what about the guy selling a $5,000.00 Lamey Shortblock? That is a chunk of change. Or they guy that is selling a $18,000.00 turn key Superfreak/XFS/Vision........... You cannot tell me he is not making money. Ebay charges a percentage of the sale, we are not proposing that.
