If there was a oem hull 800 freestyle class who would compete

I think its long time for a class like this , hence amateur isn't really amateur anymore.....and competitors that are way advanced or even have 1200cc experience compete within.....

Novice class which allows for anyone to compete as long as its under 800cc would be a great idea....and yes pro riders can compete too if its not to boring for them..... that way it would be opening up the sport to much more people than the few privileged with fat wallets...

NO AM HULLS
HATER! Stunt hulls go pretty cheap these days, those would be a good option for entry level riders.

I think the first place to start with all this would be to find out how many people actually want to compete, and can't because of the $$ involved... Then you can make plans on what the class should look like and cost.

After my last Comp in 2008, I did not get to another race until 2010. There was one SJ in AM Freestyle. After watching what everybody was doing on their $8000 hulls I knew right then that I would never compete again. I never did it for money or even for placing. Yes. You go out and give it your best. You watch the guys before you and say "I am gonna go out and do better than Gil".............. Your not even in the same ballpark going against KDX's or DVX's. Even whey they are only running 800-850cc motors......... The judges are gong to give the guy that did 15 back flips the nod over the guy that goes out and does barrell rolls, subs, turn subs, hood spins and bulldogs............ I want to compete against guys like Gil, Jimmy Sweeney, Jeff Lutker, Wasteland (RIP Little Brother) and guys on equal type of equipment.

I love the Euro 800cc class. Let's keep it OEM hull with OEM dimensions only. Keep cc to 800cc and keep it on OEM cases and cylinders only. Sleeving and porting should be allowed.
Keep the barrier to entry as cheap as possible.
With a big set of huevos, a kid should be able to compete in this class with a showroom superjet with simple bolt ons. Get them hooked on the 800cc class, and then watch them progress to 900 and ultimately 1200cc. Why would most new kids bother entering 900cc class and running against the guys that run it every year?

But then you'd have to buy a AM hull to do good, wouldn't give the guy with a sj or sxr a chance if they allowed a $10,000 hull. Kinda defeats the purpose.

Is it really unfair to let a pro compete if he is also on a oem hull and limited setup, it's still just hood tricks

It would be fun to watch you, or any other rider (pro or not) bust out old school tricks in an 800cc type class similar to whats done in European Freestyle. I think we would see the sport grow and become accessible to a lot more people.

It doesn't matter if you find it entertaining. It should be about growing the sport. The attitude of big budget being more important than big balls is no good for any nitche sport. The guys watching motor cross are guys who want to do it, and anyone who can come up with 5k for a bike can go to the track.

I Remember watching a video of Malone when I was 16, saw the price tag of his ski and thought there was no way I could afford such a thing. In reality, it takes $2000. (For the kind of tricks he was doing at that time).

So let the low budget people have something to get excited about. Yu don't even need to have a set event for it. Exhibition 4 riders between races or something so it takes all day to complete the competition and no one gets bored.

Same thing goes for lower and vintage class races, which I've read people are suggesting putting them out of world finals.

I myself was excited to hear that pro-hydro X was going to do a vintage style freeride. I was practicing for it up until I got hurt. (Stick hull full limited driveline Superjet).

As for specs, I think it should be pretty limited, but not like racing that is particular about certain mods (like my lightened flywheel taking me or of limited spec). Build the class around the rider, not the rider around the class. It would be a recreational class, and blocking certain people over trivial little things that provide insignificant advantages defeats the purpose.

let the pros run. its all for poops n giggles anyways
I agree. why not? The list of tricks you would see would be far different than they do with AM hulls anyway. It would be nice to see them pulling some sweet old school tricks, or maybe introduce new tricks to be tried with OEM hulls. To tell someone they are too good to compete is only going to lower the standard of entertainment, and the event wont be taken seriously, nor will it stick around.
