It matters in our own small world of jetskiing.

Of course nobody from the outside thinks it matters, just as I don't give a chit what happens in bowling. (Other than Roy Munson)

Take a look at Pro Freestyle and tell me how many American boats you see, compared to the rest.

Maybe the lacluster performances by U.S. riders is due to something else. Look at all the distractions we have on a daily basis. Work, women, kids, 900 cable channels, bars, concerts, sports, etc. etc. the list goes on. Perhaps the guys that gave the best performances worked the hardest, and devoted themselves to training. Michael Phelps style training, 8hrs a day. I don't know of many Americans that have that kind of motivation. One thing we do have going for us is creativity, and the ability to build quality products (like hulls) that work.

Plus the average American is 5'10 and weighs about 175 lbs or more. The Average height for a Japanese is what, 5'5" +/- with a 140-150lbs body weight? This has a lot to do with amplitude of the tricks.

But I think training and dedication has more to do with it.

I have that kind of motivation just dont have that kind of time. I think the key to your statement is the "Work, women, kids" part. I would gladly spend 8 hours a day riding and working out if it weren't for responsibility to my family.

I can 100 % promise you this was not the case.
Chris.

Then he shows up at Havasu and sees the Japanese and Russian riders throw their insane combos. Maybe he lost a bit of nerve and thought he couldn't possibly win against that.

EME News Release, 2011 World Finals.

There has been confusion concerning EME rider, Lee Stone, and his choice to not ride in Sundays World Finals competition.

Eric's Comments Follow,

I prepared for Havasu this year as I have for the past 15 years.
I built for Lee Stone an Aerial 8 ski with a 1200cc engine/pump combo that I tested and knew to exceed all others.

Lee made the decision (Contrary to my judgment) at Havasu on the Wednesday prior to competition to switch to a larger pump, once the pros and cons were discussed. Secondary to the altering of the product I knew to work, there were sleepless nights of experimenting and modifications to try to make the new setup work during the days, hours, and minutes before competing on Saturday.

After the competition on Saturday, the decision was made to switch back to the original setup that EME had brought to Havasu.

Lee made his own decision to not ride in Sunday's competition secondary to not enough time on the ski.
EME and Eric Malone did not make the decision to not participate in the competition.
Thanks, and looking forward to next year!!
