I think what you all need is a novice class . Because no other sport out there old you just show up one day and go pro class . What alex and Lucas and other riders around the globe are doing is training hard and have the right equipment to succeed . If they go on to worlds or nationals and place 1 or 2 and then try to hold back in amatuer that would be sand bagging . You can't expect first time competitors to go pro there first year . There will always be riders at the top level of each division and real new beginners too
just my opinion

I agree and disagree.

You take someone that does his first competition in May, just does ok, pure novice, by the end of the season he has worked his tail off and is pulling 1st place and nailing the most difficult tricks........ That is very aggressive Progression, at that point, you plan on moving up the next season.

You take someone who comes into his first competition and enters as Amateur and beats several pros in a combined event, and that person is pulling off the same tricks that say Stoyer, Parr, Bogart, Lenzi, etc etc, That is when I say that person is in the wrong class and by staying in that class they are labeled sandbaggers. It does not matter if this is their first season competing. Pro class is not just a classification based off winning in the amateur class, it is based off skill level.

Personally, Anybody in Amateur class should be riding OEM hulls with 800cc or less motors. The rules are really screwed up now. Another reason I do not have much desire to compete. Stock Class racing went this way, the only difference now from stock to limited is no aftermarket pipe now......... rediculous.

There will always be riders at the top level of each division and real new beginners too I agree, but if the top rider of the lower division is beating the top riders in the upper division, then something is really wrong there. (This is a hypothetical). That person is competing down a class to up their value. ie sandbagging.

There should be 3 classes.
(1) Novice class- oem hull with 800cc or less
(2) Amateur class- am hull with 900cc or less
(3) Pro class- unlimited/run whatchya brung

There are not enough competitors to justify 3 classes. We use to average 5 amateurs and 1-2 pros. This average lasted for at least 3 years if not 4.

Let's face it though the progression of the sport in the past 2 years has been rapid and the advancement in all the equipment as well . This is a big part of what separate johnnny on the superjet and Jimmy on full on 900cc Rickter .
I have seen riders be limited slot on what they are riding . Get the right kid like Lucas on the right equipment and look what happens .
Maybe there should be a limit of what tricks are allowed in amateur then . Whoever does those the best wins
This will always be debate every year it's a new problemn . Most has to do with the rule book being made by people who could care less about amateurs much less freestyle

From what hear he has just started competing as an amateur. Based on the last events they grouped all riders together. Than they separates pros and amateurs. So he came in 1st as an amateur but overall he came in second. Stoyer came in first. Not bad if u ask me.

The last event in Orlando (Tarvares) which is what I think your talking about.... Lucas only rode Saturday .... Pretty simple to take the overall if you ride both days & others don't..... And if your talking about Panama City my buddy lucas didn't go so maybe thats how he got 1st

Not to cool to be dumping on other rides... Parr has more tricks than most guys can think of.... Lets see you ride & stop putting down other riders!

Still Fat....
Is anybody from the X planning to come out to the races this weekend, 5/28-29/2011? Freestyle is at noon both days, which actually means noon......not around lunch but ends up at the end of the day! All you need is an IJSBA membership for $50, there are no entry fees for Freestyle, and if you can end up in the top 3 overall you'll even make some cash! What more can you ask for, no entry fees with a chance to win cash.

Who's in??? I'm expecting to see Stoyer, Leftly, Ratti, Lutker, Bolte, the guy training with Stoyer who's name I can't recall at this moment, myself.........WHO ELSE!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Saddle up bitches, it's fun!

We would love to go but way to preoccupied with chit at home
she has a few papers for her last PHd class to complete and i am in sooooooooo deep on reserecting my TA (holly FOK did my friend really phuck the car up on me (very close to being destroyed))
that totally ate all jetskiing funds (and all other funds like the RAV motor) right up
not to mention i gotta get her a car too (vette hunting for her) :)

IMO there should be a mandatory trick list for PROand AM
incorperate some old school tricks that can e done on a modded stocker
Even out the playing field so you dont have to have a 25,000 ski to run AM

Don 79 TA

Still Fat....
holy crap Don, what happened to the TA?

Ummmmmm VERY long story
lets just say it's pretty much close to the total level
i probably should have scrapped it and moved on to another one (made an offer on a museum car and should have done that deal)
bascially when we first moved our friend was supposed to have taken care of it
long story short... finally got it back and wanted to puke
i was stored outside under some make shift tarp/tent and OMG does it smell horrific (like SUPER old musty car smell, with that disgusting nylon tarp cover type of smell)
it was left open and uncovered
this isn't the way i wanted to restore the car now
i have chips in the paint, cracked rear bumper cover, broken mirrors, and now gutting the interior (which i am soooooo Fn pissed because i can't get the MAr-Hyde interior dye paint) so the panels look like chit...
i am more pissed off that we were lied to the whole time. but what's done is done. just in a hurry to have something to toy around in so not gutting the whole interior until the winter (sorta half-assing the project now and pissed about it).
been car-less almost 3 years now, can't wait much longer..... Must Row Gears lol

as for Vette...
i really want an 08-10 3LT or 4 LT coupe with Z51 and NAV
i'm open to an 06/07 as well, all under 8k mile wise and non-smoked in
I have another lead on an 06 i am investigating for her
of course it has to be a victory red coupe
can find blue and black ones all day long
and then she wants me to supercharge it
she wants nothing less then 550hp (doubt she will get it right now)

i do have my eye on that ligenfelter one on ebay (those are 100k cars though)
and as she says... ehhhh its ok... it's not red lol

spoiled lil b!tch.... but she is almost done with her PHd and i need a good gift for her

You can't look at it that way. They were ran as two distinctly different classes. All the ams rode first and then the pros. An am with a 9.5 is simply not the same as a pro 9.5. Alex rode well for an am, but I don't think anyone would say he beat Stoyer and Ratti's routine.

UPDATE....here is the overall order at the end of Saturday......ANY QUESTIONS AS TO MY PREVIOUS POSTS? PETROVIC HAS A CHANCE TO WIN IT ALL! LOL

1) Parr(Pro)
2) Petrovic(Amateur)
3) Ratti(Pro)
4) Leftly(Amateur)
5) Stoyer(pro) He had some type of an issue. not sure
6) Jeff Lutker(Amateur)
7) Petro(Amateur)
8) Robbie Lutker(amateur)
