I pull my head and spray guts w/ fogging oil as soon as I get home from a weekend in surf. Especially if it wasn't running after last ride. Dont be done w/ it bro, just know better next time.
See ya in Daytona 2008.

Screw saltwater road trips in the winter. To many variables and then coming home to a constant blizzard.

Frankly, you should never have left daytona without getting it fired up. One thing you will learn about riding surf is that your motor is always sipping on at least a little water.

A broken start/stop switch definitely makes getting things going a little trickier....and not that it does you any good now, but in the future, figure out SOME way to get it running. Borrow a switch, flip the connectors (make your stop your start), and worst case, jump the start wires and bypass the switch all together.

The point I'm trying to make is that the only reason you are in this boat is a little naievity. Trust me, I'm telling you all of this out of brutal first hand experience, so I know where you are coming from.

I'd rip it apart, clean everything and hose everything down with fogging oil... I started mine once I got home...but I am now going to go over there tomorrow and fog the ******** out of it.

It would not start because I snapped the pole and therefore snapped one or more of the wires in my JSS switch.

That sucks.:banghead:
I had a spare start/stop switch I gladly would have let you borrow.

If it were mine I'd do a complete tear down and inspection.

I'm with Jerry on this one. Don't stop working on it until it runs or is full of oil.
I've worked on skis untill 2-3am to get them running again.
I've also pulled motors and filled them with oil when I couldn't make them run.

Good luck.

Matt...I'm with you I hate salt! But Jerry is right. Between the two of us we have enough anchors to stop a fully loaded container ship dead in its tracks.

If it were me since you got it running, I would run the ******** out of it on a hose for a while then fog it really well. Then go turn it over every once in a while. Then again, I have probably have more siezed motors in my garage anyone else in the country.

Ahhhh good times.

there have been a couple of times over the past year where a boat sank and it took me a couple of days to get time to pull it apart....

ive always dumped a gallon or so of premix down the cyls (or straight 2 stroke oil for that matter).....AS WELL AS using a 1/2 can of fogging oil down the carb....

then I make sure to spin the motor over (if possible) 2-3 times per day.....

im with ross.....run it on the hose for a long while (20-30 mins), then fog the hell out of it.....

if you dont want to rip the whole thing apart that is.......

I'm buying a spare motor and running this one till it blows.

It has been soaking in foggin oil and 2 stroke oil since I got it to start.

It is so f'ing cold here that I can't even take it out of the garage and start it with a hose. It just has to sit. This is complete BS man! I'm sick of metal. I'm sick of resin. I hate salt more than I hate crack heads now. I hate cracked poles. I hate start stop switches.

If I could only learn to hate to ride but thats not happening.

No offense Matt, you should have bypassed the switch and blown it out on the trailer before you went home. This would have happened in fresh water too. You need to blow it out every time Someone could have helped you get it going, somehow. I would have.

If it were my ski, even if i got it started ,i would still pull the jugs off and give it a good hone job. Also feel that bottom end bearing and rod bearing for ANY kind of drag. Soak it in 2 cycle oil.

Don't give up on the saltwater bro....
When we left Daytona, my wifes HX crapped out on us on that Sat. Well, I just got it running this sunday... The battery crapped out on us(thought it was electrical gremlins at this point)...

There wasn't a pad underneath of the battery, so the wave jumping, smacking and breakinig of the batt/ strap just finished the battery off...

I just dumped some oil down the cylinders...... It must be a Sea-Poo thing I guess.... Because I know my Blaster wouldn't have lasted this long....
