here's the one I exploded my 850 with.

Fits 1980-present (except FLHTCU-I, all Twin Cam & XL 1200S) all Harley Twins. Primary Resistance: 2.3 ohms. Ignition Type: Electronic. ACCEL Super Coils are designed to produce the maximum amount of spark energy, fast coil rise times and a voltage output that is 45% higher than the OEM coil. The ACCEL Super Coil is our highest output motorcycle coil. The Electronic Super Coil is easily installed in the OEM location using stock (later model year) coil covers on electronic ignitions. This coil carries a Lifetime Replacement Warranty and is made in the U.S.A. The ACCEL Super Coil is one of the best performance values that you can bolt on your motorcycle to achieve smoother idling, crisper throttle response and quick ACCELeration

Just for :):):):)s & giggles, do you know what the capacitor does in a CDI?

yes, it stores the extra power the ignition coil needs at higher rpms, where the switch over becomes too frequent for the coil by itself to keep up with recharging on it's own. in other words, it acts as a voltage regulator to keep the coil spitting out the same nominal voltage to the plugs at all rpms. prevalent and present in all late model setups where a cpu controls timing advance, etc.. those capacitors are part of the brain boxs' cpu, they're not part of the stand-alone coil.

yes, H, those coils are different than the dyna coils. they can be used in ac or dc applications, where these older dyna coils are ac, or dc.

yes.

"

All coils operate on the same basic principal with a small number of primary windings outside a large number of secondary windings wrapped around a metal core. The positive side of the coil is connected to battery power while the negative side is connected to the distributor points and eventually to ground. The high-tension tower lead directs the output of the coil to the distributor and eventually to the spark plugs. Since points cannot handle a full 12-14 volts, a ballast resistor is used to reduce operating voltage to 6-8 volts and to limit the amount of current passing through the points."

"
Time is what handcuffs inductive- discharge ignitions. This system requires dwell time to “charge” the coil up to its maximum capacity. Think of the inductive system as having to slowly pour water into a glass until it’s full, then dumping the water out when the spark is required. As rpm increases, there is less time to saturate the coil (fill the glass), which reduces the voltage and current output (the same as reducing the amount of water in the glass)."

I am not in the habit of taking up for Wad but he is correct about CDI-coil combinations,Seadoo uses them on all the 580's and 720's they produced,my Suzuki four wheeler also has a combo CDI-coil.

OK so there are some people that think this setup won't work. Prove them wrong with a video of the setup and then with it running. You can cut a flywheel cover in half to show the flywheel and trigger plate and then start it up. Even if it is a 20 minute video of you assembling the flywheel and cover after showing the trigger plate and wiring. I am sure we would all watch it.

OR get to building that water park. I haven't rode any great waves in quite a while. I need a ski vacation.

Hey Terry, will his system work using an OEM Yamaha or Kawi coil?
1 coil.
1. plate with a pickup.
1. Battery

Battery wired to the coil, coil wired to pickups.

good old p'cola
any two wire coil will work in this setup. i was running it on the x2 before i got the analog setup for safty.

now if i can just get this new motor in the ski!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
