internal fuel fill... homemade

I was too lazy to do anything fancy....mine doesn't have a screw top anymore. It takes me about 20 seconds to loosen the hose clamp for the pickup, and pull the pickup out.
Additionally, I have the MSD Total loss brain strapped to the tank, so I need both straps.
But looking at some of the solutions here, I may do something better before I got it all back together for the season.

I just did this mod to my boat and the info in here was priceless .
It gave me a lot of ideas but I just went with the simple put the filler on the top of the tank :cool2: It cost me 5 bucks total .:arms:

I blocked off the old filler with a 2-1/16 rubber plug with a hose clamp and then a 2 inch galvanized rubber twist type stopper for back up .

Glassed over the fill on the ski and done :Banane01:

internal fuel filler

here's how I did mine, didn't have to cut the tank at all, just had to shorten the filler neck, so it wouldn't stick up too high, clears the liner on my old square nose. And the fuel lines pick up were the filler hose use to be. Two Tank Straps is definetely better than one.

Here's the top of my tank .I can still use both tank straps this way .
I used a little bit of 5200 around the seal for the filler
I'm thinking about glassing over the old filler .
West Systems will stick to this right .????

I just did freestylegeek's version yesterday. Took 15 min. Nice and easy. Hole saw and predrill the screw holes. All I have to do is glass the external fill hole.

Yeah buddy!
I think I'll have to schedule a Louisville ride in order to proporly inspect your work.

why would anyone do this mod?
aesthetics?
vanity?

the idea of a fuel spill directly into my bilge gives me :scared:

I have to refuel at a dock and sometimes the water is rough. do not want to remove the hood.

This mod actually allows you to carry more fuel.
I think the RN looks a lot better without the stock fuel filler, for the SN riders who are worried about loosing the nose piece this mod allows them to glass and secure their fuel door and nose piece onto the ski.

Charlie (SFL) used the stock fuel filler as dry storage for registration and other small items. Works out rather nice.

yeah - I am working the unsinkable nose and fuel door mod.

I agree for the Square....in fact, I just did that on my wife's square. But one a Roundnose...asthetics only.

It is not for asthetics. I can remove my tank, even w/ 5 gallons in it, to pull my pipe/motor without spilling a drop.

And it looks cool:bigok:
